we just moved into an old house which was just painted three weeks back. The paint fume is still strong in the house. I placed snake plants through out the house for now. Does anybody know how to get rid of the smell fast?

Not sure, but when we painter our house we bought some scented stuff to put in the paint. It comes in a small package and you add it to a gallon of paint. (Many different scents) I bought it at Wal-mart paint dept. I`m sure Lowes or Home Depot has it.
Not much help, but something to think about next time you paint.

Place containers of coffee randomly in the area that has an odor.
Light a candle. The flame of the candle sucks oxygen (and any mild smells) out of the air. Probably not a good idea if you have pets or kids, but works well.

several shallow bowls of white vinegar around the room and leave overnight...It doesn't simply replace the offending smell with the smell of the vinegar, I don't know why, but it somehow seems to suck up the paint odors....
I would raise windows and turn on fans for a few days and change air-conditioner filters, if you have one

Good Luck

Put a cotton ball with vanilla extract in an open container in the room. Depending on how big the room is you may need to place a couple around the room. And of course, leave the windows open.

put some vinegar in a bowl of warm water. Let it sit somewhere in the room. The vinegar neutralizes the smell of the paint.

This really works!

The best way is good ole fashioned fresh air. Open up the doors and windows and turn on all the ceiling fans... Good luck!

Cut an onion in quarter, don't cut all the way through, put it in a bowl cover it with cold water and leave it at least overnight.
