The carpet guys should have done this before they left. You can do this twice a day, if you care to. It will not hurt the carpet.

You should wait only two days to let the carpet fully "set" so you don't have wrinkles or pulls. After that, get that lint out of there! When they cut a new carpet to the correct length, they leave lots of dust and lint in the carpet that can now get into your lungs or on your clothes. In the old days, you had to wait for the glue on the back of the custom made carpets to dry, but the new manufacturing techniques make the two week waiting period obsolete.

My family have been in the carpet fitting trade for over 30 years and you do not need to wait anytime to hoover, unless for some reason you have had it laid on adhesive (which quite frankly is unheard of) happy hoovering xxx

There is no time period for hoovering a new carpet, since they are not usually glued down. If they are glued around the edges it is normally with spray adhesive which cures very quickly.

The only reason to wait before hoovering is beccause new carpets produce fluff or lint. It is advisable to lightly brush your carpet for a few days to remove the lint before you begin hoovering

I was told by the carpet fitters when my carpet was laid, as long as it is only a light hoover that will be fine, that was years ago when carpets wasn't as well made as they are now. Happy hoovering,

You do not have to wait at all. Hoover as much as you would like. It is impossible to hoover too much. (It will extend the life of the carpet to hoover often.)

I would say about a day. You shouldn't have to wait that long. One day is the most that I would wait, but it probably would be ok to hoover directly after.
