The gum is under my couch but I still want to remove it without losing any color from the rugs. The gum has been there for a while and its flat and embedded in the rug.

Try Goo Gone. You can find it at Wal-mart. Just pour Goo Gone on the gum and wait for a few minutes. If the gum doesn't come off the first time don't give up, try it again. This is good for all types of sticky stuff.

Rub it with peanut butter and let it sit for awhile and it should come out. When the gum is out you can rub the spot with a damp cloth and a little dishwashing liquid, to get rid of the PB.

i guess you could use peanut butter, then after the gum is out use a rug cleanser

Try WD-40. It's good for a myriad of problems such as this one.

i would try letting some baby oil or peanut butter soak into it and then try scraping it out...otherwise if that doesn't work call and ask a professional carpet cleaner.

cut it out take a peice of rug from a discrete section of ur carpet and replace it with that

Use ice to freeze it so it doesn't stick then pull it off.
