I am trying to repair a couple of holes in an existing wall that has been finished with an orange peel texture and painted. The problem is, when I try to feather the edges of the new patch, the existing texture makes the new joint compund on the patch have a zillion ridges. I have tried sanding the existing painted texture down around the patch, but it seems to be hard as a rock..... Does anyone have a trick to overcome this problem? I want the newly repaired and textured patch to blend in as best as possible with the existing wall.

I imagine that it does darken with age, but alot? I'm trying to find out what is hidden beneath layers of paint in a solid wood end table I found...
the inside of the drawer feels harder than pine, but it's darker and not as green as poplar...
smack me if this is a silly question, and if it's unanswerable smack me too.

From the following list, please pick your THREE favorite trees. (Well, unless you only have one or two faves). I know my list doesn't include ALL trees, but I tried to include all the trees I think most people are familiar with. So, hopefully the list has enough choices for most folks. Thanks for participating! :)

My roommates and I have a slight roach problem. They live in our kitchen behind an unmovable stove/oven. We've had our apartment landlord bring in the exterminator to put down a gel (I believe) along the floor at base of our counters, and this seems to drive them away for a couple weeks' time, but they come back.

We'd like to avoid "bug bombing" the place as we'd have to remove all our food from the kitchen. Is there some other method that could rid us of them? Thanks!

I don't want something childish like one of those quotes that people spell wrong on purpose. I want something meaningful but also fun. I don't want just words..I want it to be long enough to go around my whole room or at least a big part of it. I have found a few I like but I was wondering if anyone knew any other good ones. they can be quotes from anything- movies, music, poems, people, whatever. let me know if you need more details. thanks:)

i'd really like to paint my small bedroom's walls a dark cobalt blue, dark purple, or dark chocolate brown because those are the colors that relax me and i feel they'd make the room more intimate and sophisticated (my furniture/etc. is modern, clean lines, etc.). i'm wondering if these colors will visually recede or if they would make it seem like a tiny cave. what are your opinions? thanks in advance.

I need to level a bathroom floor and am curious if I can use the self leveler followed by metal lath, thinset then tile. The back of the self leveler stated not recommended for OSB, however that is my sub floor and if I use a cement board on top, it would raise the floor too high in relation to the hallway.

I tried using: poisonous gas bombs and the subsonic sound emitters, but nothing seems to work. Any suggestions for proven meathods of ridding your property of moles would be great.

We placed a hot pan on a cold cookie sheet then put it on a wood table. Obviously the heat transfered and has left white marks. Any suggestions other than refinishing?

Thanks!

My sink is clogged with something but I have no clue what it is. Do you have any suggestions on how to unclog it (short of calling the plumber)? The water in it just goes down super sloooowwwlyyyyyyy. I tried boiling water, but it didn't work. Someone also said to try a plunger, but that got me nowhere except for now there's tiny pieces of poop floating in my sink! lol. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I live in an apartment and I have a wall A/C Unit. Last night noticed a wet spot on my carpet. When i woke up this morning the wet spot was bigger. I called the maintance people in my complex and they came out and said my A/C Filter was very dirty and it caused something to clog and that is why I had the water issue. The water backed up in my unit. All he did was vaccum the water out and put a new filter. Well, Now the A/C Unit is making a water dripping noise everytime it comes on and it is still making the carpet wet. Will this problem go away or should I call them again tomorrow to come out and look at it. I am worried they will blame me for the A/C breaking if it has to be repaired.

Thanks

they will stand anywhere from 6"-20" tall and will be used for home decor. I'd like a machine that will do all the work for me.

I bought my first 1/2 beef cut and wrapped. I am wondering how much of the total weight on average is waste and byproducts such as fat, bone, intestines, etc, and how much is meat?

Can anyone offer some general information?

a bedroom fuse keeps blowing, even though it's not being overloaded. the room's overhead lights are on a separate fuse and aren't affected...but the wall plugs, which have a lamp and clock radio plugged in--keep blowing. odd thing is, sometimes it comes back on, on it's own without "resetting" it. (panel is outside so i didn't switch it once, and it later came on by itself.) it's in the baby's room, and at night we keep music on the clock radio going on all night--but other than that, just a night light is in use when this happens. this also happens when nothing is on. (except the clock radio is plugged in) it also affects wall plugs in another bedroom, in which i have my computer plugged into.
know what could be causing it and how to fix it?
thanks!
this is the only fuse in the house that does this. new construcion, home is less than 2 years old.

I turned on the bathroom light and power to all the bedrooms went out. The main circuit breaker is not tripped though. Turned them of and back on to be sure of this. I just replaced all the light switches on the circuit prior to this. Three bedrooms and the kitchen. When I replaced the bathroom light switch I accidentially arced the wire causing it to spark. After the power outage I checked the wires to make sure that they were secure. They are. But where I touched the screwdriver to the wire there is a burn mark. I think that the switch is blown. Also I noticed that the circuit breaker in the plug outlet in the bathroom is tripped and wont reset. Is this due to the power not working or could this also be the cause.

I just ordered a new bed, and to keep from having to pole vault into it, I got the lower- profile box spring. Since it's shorter, do I use a full size bedskirt?

And my bed is normal sized i guess and my comforter is blue with white stripes. i also have two wooden mantle like things where i keep some knicks knacks and my autographed basketball stuff and football stuff. What could i do?

I need to add an addition onto my house and the driveway is lined in cedar trees and they have got to go. Is there a way I can sell these beautiful trees. I hate to let them go to waste. They are full grown cedar trees about 7 or 8 of them.

How do I found out how much they are worth? I am not just cutting them for the money I am building my Mom an apartment and it is the only place it can go and I love her more then cedar trees.;-)
