My husband works at UPS so he is very dirty when he comes home and he won't take off his shoes when he comes inside. He is also always inviting people over so we have a high traffic living room. Is there a natural cleaner I can use to get the stains out fo my once white carpet?

I have went through 3 cobalt drill bits trying to drill through a quarter inch thick piece of what I assume to be stainless. The reason I think it is stainless is because i know it has been exposed for at least a year with no rust or discoloration and it is also very heavy (rules out titanium). The band of steel is ¼ thick x 1 ½ wide. Any suggestions as to speed, type of bit, lubrication, etc., will be greatly appreciated!

My dining is room has wood floors and the wall are painted Monroe Bisque ( which is a light golden beige). I have a large dining room table that seats ten, and I have burgundy chair covers on all 10 chairs. I was thinking of doing burgundy curtains/drapes for my two small picture windows but didn't know if that would be too much with the chair covers. Any suggestions?

I installed a new stove pipe about a month ago and this weekend I went to light it and it was so clogged with creosote the smoke wouldnt go up the pipe. Now I had a pipe in there for 10 years and never had that problem. I am guessing it might be the kindling i am burning. It is cedar shakes that I tore off my house when we redid the siding this past summer. I know you not suppose to burn pine and cedar is a pine however these cedar shakes have been on my house since the 1930's maybe longer. Could that be the problem?

I have a bog plant (Sarracenia Purpurea) which I bought this year and have in a pot next to the pond in very shallow water. It's been fine, it's just that I thought it's time to bring it in doors for the winter. I turned it up side down to empty the rain water from the trumpet-type leaves and it smelt pretty bad. I know it's an insect catcher so it's got dead insects in it but is it normal for it to whiff a bit? Other than that it's in good health, just wasn't sure if this was normal.
Thanks in advance : )
ps Now I know why it's called a 'bog' plant, 'cos it smells like one! lol

We will be moving to an area that gets snow if the winter and tempuratures well below freezing. It never freezes where I now live.

We normally leave touch up paint in the garage, but at the new home it freezes in the winter. Will this affect the paint? If so, how should I store it?

I want to buy a very dark shiny counter top ( from Pionite - Smoke Granite) for the kitchen. Because it is very beautiful. But I heard that it comes ugly and it shows all scratches on it. How long it takes to see these scratches? Help please.

The tilers that I hired to do my hallway, in my living room, didn't finish the job. The customer service rep says he will finish the job, on his own time to make me happy. The tiles are paid for. 11 tiles, in a straight row, carpet is already removed. the last tile needs to be cut in half.

I have a 1992-1994 Briggs & Stratton 3.75 hp pushmower that the revs are cycling up and down (every 2 seconds) after about a minute of starting. I've cleaned/replaced air filter, changed spark plug, removed carbon deposits from cyclinder head and replaced head gasket. Any ideas?

Hi all,
I decided to try my hand at making a ping-pong table out of two pieces of 4' x 8' solid wood (I forgot what the type was but definitely thicker than plywood and does not bow in on itself). The hardware dept cut two pieces at 4' L by 5' W and two pieces at 1' L by 2.5' W for the middle. I connected the two long pieces to the short/thin middle pieces by joints that allow you to fold the table in on itself for more room. It is sitting on top of our dining table, so space is limited. Before I paint it, I was curious as to how one gets a table like this to raise at a 90 degree angle so that you can hit against a backboard for practice. Other than placing a heavy object behind the raised section, I am at a loss. Any help would be appreciated. Here is a rough schematic:

______________________5 W______________________
4 L
(joint x2)
________2.5 W_________ ________2.5 W___________
1 L
(joint x2)
______________________5 W______________________
4 L

Thanks!
