My roommates and I have a slight roach problem. They live in our kitchen behind an unmovable stove/oven. We've had our apartment landlord bring in the exterminator to put down a gel (I believe) along the floor at base of our counters, and this seems to drive them away for a couple weeks' time, but they come back.

We'd like to avoid "bug bombing" the place as we'd have to remove all our food from the kitchen. Is there some other method that could rid us of them? Thanks!

Get boric acid in powder form, home-depot has it, it's about $4.00, kills roaches, ants, silver fish, and most everything, but doe's not harm animals . You can use it as often as you like, inside and out, just follow the directions. very easy and effictive.

My father is a landlord to a three family house and he uses boric acid as a repellent against bugs. It works quickly and if you keep putting it down every month or so it will keep them away. As long as you don't have any animals that will get into the boric acid. It should work make sure that you also put it under the cabinets and and were the water pipes are. These are the places that the bugs tend to hang out.

This is how I got rid of the roaches in my father's house, but it does talke a lot of persistance.
Usually roaches come out at night so I set my alarm clock for 2am every other night and just went around with roach spray for 10 mins and killed every roach I saw and sprayed the corners I saw them running into. After 2 weeks, they started getting the message, and after 2 and a half months, they were all gone. Also, try not to leave any dishes in the sink or somewhere they might find food.
Hope this helps!

fighting Roaches is alway's going to be a Problem where ever you live but i found that if you get some Combat Roach Gel an apply it to the Nook an Crack's where roach's Hide it will help alot plus being you just moved they could be left from the last Family that live there. remove any so called Contact Paper from the Shelves as this is where Roaches will find their FOOD supply ( Roaches will eat anything left out or with a GLUE Backing)get some good DEGREASER an clean everything in the house it'll take about 2 -3 week's though before you see the result's so do give up

First remove their food sources, make sure you have a closed trash can, clean up your food and do your dishes. Make sure that food in cupboards is tightly sealed and wipe up pools of water and other liquids so they don't have a readily available water source. This will significantly reduce their ability to populate.

Then boric acid is a good start, also commercially available traps places around your kitchen should help. Roaches are pretty hardy but if you do these things the population should be pretty supressed and will likely eventually dissappear.

Purshase roach "baits",,they work!!
get a fly swatter and boric acid,,,,put the boric acid in the lower cabinets and around the base board, put the fly swatter in your hand and beat the living sh*t out of the ones you see..
Change the bait trays every other month,
This plan dosent work unless you are seriously commited to

I want for you to seriously clean up your house. Then get a tightly-lidded garbage can. This, of course, is for "temporary use." Put all garbage in those kitchen garbage bags and place them in the "outside garbage cans." You should get over to the nearest reputable hardware store and purchase "Borax." This white powder has been very "effective" in exterminating those awful "buggers." I wish you well. Peace, Love and God Bless.

If they live behind the stove, they live *everywhere*. Get a real exterminator who will come in and spray. Some smaller pest companies will give you a one time deal with a one year guarantee. Borax (I think that's it?) doesn't work and bombing will only make them mad. They'll come back eventually.

Sprinkle Boric Acid around all corners and baseboards. You can find Boric Acid (in powder form) at home improvement and hardware stores.

also if you have any old boxes around like for storage, they like to lay their eggs in these. Get rid of them. Old banana boxes like you sometimes get from the store where bananas have come in is bad to harbor these from storage. So if you didn't have the bugs and brought the box home, you end up with the bugs.
