I live in an apartment and I have a wall A/C Unit. Last night noticed a wet spot on my carpet. When i woke up this morning the wet spot was bigger. I called the maintance people in my complex and they came out and said my A/C Filter was very dirty and it caused something to clog and that is why I had the water issue. The water backed up in my unit. All he did was vaccum the water out and put a new filter. Well, Now the A/C Unit is making a water dripping noise everytime it comes on and it is still making the carpet wet. Will this problem go away or should I call them again tomorrow to come out and look at it. I am worried they will blame me for the A/C breaking if it has to be repaired.

Thanks

The maintence guy told my girlfriend that he unclogged it and he said the floor would take one or two days to drive.

It is dripping because either the a/c is setup incorrectly (leaning toward the inside) or your drain outlet is clogged. Changing filter does not solve this problem.....

Leaving the carpet wet for a few days is going to cause more problems down the road...

I'd recommend calling them back, if for no other reason than to have it on record that their maintenance tech says its ok. Then you cannot be held accountable for it.

I'd also suggest that the carpet be peeled back there, and a fan set to blow over that section of the floor.

Quick test to see if you have a new leak... lay a sheet of newspaper under the wall unit. If you have any leak at all, it will show up quickly.

Good Luck

maximum possibly clarification is condensation dripping off of the coil into the condensation pan. often happens greater whilst it gets greater humid exterior. Freon does no longer drip, it might come out as a gasoline, yet you will possibly see an oily spot the place it replaced into leaking from. Theoretically if it leaked sufficient, oil ought to drip, yet you will possibly word the leak if it replaced into that undesirable because of the fact your a/c does no longer be working any further. yet another accessible reason is that the unit is freezing, and then thawing out. in case you notice ice on the coils or compressor, the unit is in want of provider.

Yes you need to call them back out. If it just started doing this it is most likely that the drain has clogged up. It is their responsibility.
