Oh yeah glue traps are REAL humane =/ .. Ugh. Glue traps are designed to be thrown in the garbage with the (soon to die of starvation) mouse still stuck to it. Those things are not like Post it glue. You can't just release the mouse. If it's in the glue, it's going to die. You can be decent and just smash its head and get it over quick or you can let it die slow. Its up to you.
Honestly I don't understand this mindset of 'catch and release' when it comes to mice. That is the same as catching a fly or mosquito and letting it go elsewhere. It is a disease carrying pest. The best course of action is to exterminate it. It's not the same as the cute little mice that are bred to be disease free for people to keep as pets.
Get yourself a simple $0.50 snap trap, bait it with peanut butter or hard salami, and put it into a paper lunch bag. When the trap snaps, just throw the whole bag away trap and all. Quick death, no suffering, and any mess is contained in the bag. If you don't like the idea of a snap trap, there is an electronic zap trap that Victor makes, and it sells for about $20. Again, quick and humane. They are killed instantly with a jolt of electricity. They run on 4 AA batteries, and all you do when you catch it is open the cover and dump it into the trash.
Those 'ultrasonic repellers' and whatnot are all gimmicks. None of them actually work worth a damn. Don't waste your money.
Oh and one more thing... There is never "Just one mouse". Where you see one, theres at least 5-10 more. And keep in mind, if you 'catch and release', chances are the pest will be back. And if not, and it decides to get into my house, it's dead anyway. So just kill it to begin with. Remember. It's a disease carrying pest. Just like a rat, mosquito, or tick. It is not endangered, it does not have family that will miss it, and it is not beneficial to you in any way. It will only piss and poop all over your counters, get into your food, and possibly make you sick.

You can purchase a no kill mouse trap at Wallmart. Where the mouse goes in but can't come out, one way door. My cat brought home a pregnant mouse and needless to say I had 5 mice in the house. Caught them all and released them in the woods

Those don't work. Believe me...we had one in each room and still had mice last year. If you know where it's getting in...stuff the hole with an S.O.S. pad or any steel wool. They hate that. Also, they hate mint, so if you can get some peppermint oil and put it on cotton balls, and leave it where the mouse tries to get in...he'll find another place to be. Good luck!

I use those little boxes with the sticky stuff inside and it does not kill the mouse. if you check it often and take it outside when you discover you have it and get it off of there you can let it go.there are live traps as well. I would just borrow someones cat.

i'm a softie too. My grandma had mice as quickly as and enable them to pass yet i did no longer comprehend her trick to trapping them with out killing them. only get a tiny container with some tiny cheese products or sunflower seeds, then once you spot one hop in it, positioned a lid over the container and pass it to a secure spot outdoors, possibly around a backyard or some plant life (in basic terms positioned them by using plant life in case you opt for for the mice to consume it :l). be careful!!! ~A animal lover
