Permanent press wash cycle just minimizes wrinkling. It's not a gentle cycle by any means and does nothing to minimize shrinkage.

If you don't want your clothes to shrink, professionally dry clean them only, or at a minimum wash on cold and DON'T put them in the dryer. The dryer is terrible for clothes. It shrinks and fades cotton fabrics and cotton blends faster than a gunslinger can draw his weapon.

I would line dry instead of putting them in the dryer. If the fabric is the type that will be stiff or wrinkled from line drying, put them in the dryer on permanet press for a few minutes (maybe 5 minutes - just long enough to warm them up) and then hang them up to dry after that.

Perm. press is good, make sure the heat setting is also on less dry than more dry. Also, hanging them or putting them on a sweater rack will air dry them and no shrinking will happen.

I would suggest either low, or perm press. Take care.
