My neice wants one for Xmas. Her friend has one and likes it - save her getting out the big vacuum cleaner all the time. Is there another rechargeable one that is better?

Long story, but I have a 277V outlet and I need it to be 110V to plug in regular electrical appliances. How do I go about doing this? I do not need to have a very high load on the socket, just about 5A or so. I need to do this economically and as you can tell by my question, I am no good at electrical work. I can plug stuff in but that's about it. Any links to suitable transformers would be appreciated
Thanks.

When the freezer is going thru its defrost phase, the ice cubes of course are a little bit melted, but mostly still solid. But they always get that distinctive odd smell.
Then, when they refreeze again, they don't have a smell again.
Where does this smell come from, and should i throw my ice away during this cycle?

Not the kind that you push... the kind that takes gas and you need to turn it on?

Do you even know where the gas goes?

Do you know how to adjust the settings?

If you don't know, do you want to learn how?

Just wondering - thanks!

Hi. I'm trying to learn to iron... for university (and I haven't done an ounce of housework before).

An ironing board (well ours at least) has one 'curved' end to it (opposite side to that metal rail thing). What's that for? I guessed it was for trouser legs, but my trouser legs are much smaller than the ironing board.

Also if you're meant to put an iron upright when its on but you're not ironing (e.g. when moving the trousers to the next patch) then why is there a metal rail thing??

Sorry if I sound a bit naive!!!

We have about a million lady bugs that are around our house. Several have found thier way into the house. What are some things I can do to get rid of them?

They are driving me crazy. I cant even go out of my house without them flying all over my family and I. This is just crazy.

Ok so my husband just said that they were not lady bugs. They are those mixed ones I think you call em Asian Beetles.

I have noticed an akward smell coming fomr my furnace. The heat company person came to my house and said everything was fine and he believes it smells like burning metal, but he is not sure what metal would be burning. We turned the thermostat on after he cleaned eveything out. Now he states he will report to my landlord that it is fine and he told me to run the heat for a few days while i leave my house and hopefully it will be gone. It makes me dizzy, but he states it shouldn't What do you think it could be?

I'm talking about the kind of bags with the zippers. I hate to throw them away, but I don't want them just lying around either. I know I could put them in the recycle bin, but they just seem like they would be really good...for something.

I want to start planting trees to help reverse some of the CO2 emissions we're producing. I want to start off with Oak. I have plenty of Acorns, sound ones that haven't been infested. Where can I begin planting some? There is plenty of open space so i'm not worried about that. Its fall now so is it a good time to begin? Can they be pot-planted first?

The majority of the spacing is 1/8" but where the corners meet, since they are rounded, the gap is more that 1/8.
do I use sanded or unsanded or both.
