I have to get my chiminy clean. I just bought the house and I have no idea how to find a qualified person to do the job right. I want to have it inspected while they clean it. What is the best way to find a qualified person? I don't want to just hire from the yellow pages. Is there a registry of good cleaners? I live in MA.

I just love that color. I looked at some carpet swathes and there was only 1 shade of burnt orange I thought would be beautiful. I think my dark brown carpet is depressing me.

My ugly patio?
I need some ideas. We moved in and there was the concrete pad and some red pavers. We have since tried to spruce things up a bit, but the patio remains a problem. We are do-it-yourselfers (the yard was just dirt concrete and ugly pavers when we moved in) I have considered:

Pouring concrete: $800, plus ripping out old stuff

Putting in deck: $ ???, work, AZ is hard on wood I guess.

Laying flagstone: $ ??? but I think it would be at least $1500

Grass would die because of the shade. We are on attempt #3 of grass between patio and planter!

Pea gravel: $150?, easy, but my baby eats it, it isnt so pretty, and it hurts your feet. But, not out of the question.

Any ideas?
Check out my picture. Westfam.org Thanks!

The strip of grass is about 30ft long. Need privacy, something that wont grow out of control, and something that doesn't lose its leaves in the winter.

I was hoping to create a spanish/ mediterranean courtyard at the next house in front if there is enough yard and codes allow and building it out of rough sided cinder block and then stucco it, it would be like 6.5 ft tall and every 16 inches there would be a 3 ft "window" opening to put a greek style pot in with a cascading vine. I would put a wider shelf in those openings. the courtyard would have stone tile- the 2 or 3 ft by 2 or 3 ft kind and the front of the house would be brick, it would be attached to home to stabilize. do you think this would work? I would be having it professionally done most likely(the wall part)

I'm going to use aluminum foil in my windows, to block out some light (and so our landlord doesn't see our cat) Now that winter is coming.. which side would be better to use, the shiny side facing out or in? we obviously want to contain the heat, does it make a difference?

I don't like the colour, but want a cheaper and easier way of recolouring it.
And will it effect or damage the siding if I do so in any way?

I'm finally getting my own room and I want to make it colorful and happy.

As quirky as it may sound:
would it be alright if my walls were interchangeably green, purple, green purple? ( the green and purple would be leaning towards the pastelish side )
and if my carpet was blue?

Feel Free to make other suggestions.
