I don't like the colour, but want a cheaper and easier way of recolouring it.
And will it effect or damage the siding if I do so in any way?

Latex paint will do the job.It will not damage the siding.Just use a flat paint.Any kind of gloss will show every imperfection.

Yes you can paint it without any problems. There are numerous paint company's that have paint good for aluminium siding. The only thing you really need to do is wash and prep the surface. An example would be, if it has a chalky type finish on it now, or if it's shiny, or if there is grease or dirt. All of that must be removed first ,or you would be waisting your time. Also, doing it the cheep way, will definitely cause you more trouble in the long run. Do it right the first time, and the work you put onto it will last a long, long time. Preparing the surface correctly is 90 percent of the job. That means getting rid of the oxidation(the chalky surface) deglossing the shine, washing off the dirt and then priming it with a good quality exterior primer. If these steps are ignored, your paint won't be sticking to the surface for very long. But of coarse if you really don't care, well do it your own way. Byee

Aluminum siding can be painted. You must power wash the siding first, then use alkyd paint. We did ours 4 yrs ago. It looks real good.
