I have to get my chiminy clean. I just bought the house and I have no idea how to find a qualified person to do the job right. I want to have it inspected while they clean it. What is the best way to find a qualified person? I don't want to just hire from the yellow pages. Is there a registry of good cleaners? I live in MA.

Hi, I Live in So. California, but I bet no matter where you live, anyplace that sells fireplace equipment and accessories will have the name of a good chimney sweeper. Most folks in that kind of work, leave their business cards at those stores. How else will people who need their chimneys swept know about them? Byee

This is my method. Drive around in a good neighborhood (of course, that wouldn't be my neighborhood) on a Saturday when most people are home from their jobs. See houses with chimney - - ask the people. Do that to 2-3 houses.
I received lots of information on certain style of landscaping or if you have a non-traditional roof, etc... People love to give advice; this is a fun way of getting info (takes longer than yellow pages & telephone).
