Actually it is on the decline. Home gardening was at its height about five years ago . In a few more years you will hardly know it is around.

It's a good way to get some fresh air and exercise. Plus people are starting to realize that you don't need to be an expert or have a green thumb to have pretty flowers. All you need to do is look for easy care, hardy plants and plant them in the proper spot. Gardening can be as easy or hard as you like. If you're like me and don't have the time, there are easy care plants available that look lovely. If you like a challenge, there are plants for that also.

There isn't. It's just that gardening of the past was more of a regular house hold thing. A necessity if you wanted fresh vegetables. Or any vegetables for that matter. Today's Gardens have the media's attention, which in turn sparks the publics eye. Byee

When HGTV first started out, they had Gardening shows on all day on Saturdays. Now it's dropped down to just one. I complained to them about it but it hasn't made any difference. PBS has one gardening show on Saturday now. I often catch myself wishing that there will be a gardening TV channel. Well thank God for Internet gardening blogs.

People just want to get back to earth. There are more books, magazines and newspaper articles then every before. They show step by step instructions. What and what no to plant.

It gets people out doors, and gives them new ideas how to come up with ideas they would like to see in their back yards or in front of their homes and do it themselves. It's very satisfactory to see the fruits of there labor.

Vegitable or flower garden ..... takes your choice.

Considering how many nurserys and discount centers that sell plants I find it hard to believe it is on the decline.
I do know in my area landscaping jobs are UP by over 35%..
Meaning More people are planting.
Maybe when they see the price of food and how high it is to feed their kids they can cut corners that way.

Incline or decline - - it is still popular. Reason:
fresh air, exercise, better than TV & a couch potatoe, relaxing, therapy, get to know & visit with passerbys & neighbors (meet people), fresh veggies taste better & better for you (health conscience).
