Put about an inch apple cider vinegar in the bottom of a tall glass. then make a cone or funnel like thing out of a sheet of paper and put the small end in the glass (but not so it touches the vinegar). Make sure it fits tight around the top rim of the glass.
The fruit flies will go into the funnel to get at the vinegar but they can't seem to get back out the small hole in the funnel and will be trapped.

They are coming for something...potatoes, onions???? I hate using sprays, so make a 'trap' for them. I use an empty jar, a small piece of fruit and a piece of paper rolled into a funnel. I tape the paper onto the jar so they can not escape once they have gone down the funnel. Once they are all in the jar, take it outside and release. Don't leave the fruit in the jar for too long or you will attract even more fruit flies.

Sometimes these bugs will come around not because of food, but maybe because its damp. Since they're in the kitchen and bathroom, it might be the moisture. Clean up really good, and if there are any leaks or standing water, you will have to try to get those areas as dry as you can, and in the bathroom, watch out for them being attracted to your damp towels as well. Take the garbage out frequently in both rooms too.

Listen if there is no food source, there is no flies. Get rid of what they're laying maggots in and you'll have figured it out.

Get rid of the food source (i.e. rotting fruit).
