My husband and I have a bought a large old full 2 story house. It needs to be gutted and mostly redone. We plan to renovate the main floor first so that we can move in by Oct 1st and finish the basement and upper floor as we live there. This house needs new roof, new plumbing, new elecric, it is having some walls knocked down and replaced with beams, needs the walls insulated, new walls put up, change windows, it also has no kitchen and no bathrrom. Plus it needs all the lath and plaster knocked out. We can do any of these things ourselves but need to hire out alot of the work to have it done in time. What things should we do and which should we hire out to save the most money?

I have two outdoor electrical outlets and three in bathrooms that have become inoperable. Checked the electricity at the main panel, no circuit breakers are tripped and electricity is going out of each one. I have no GFI outlets in or outside the home, all regular outlets. Could one of these regular outlets have become defective and now causing the rest of the outlets on this circuit to become inoperable as well?

I have some stuff that I need to sell quick because I'm moving. I have lots of baby stuff, including a crib with matress (great condition for 100,00). Also I have adult Gap jackets, kids clothes and furniture in general. Do I get a better deal from my own garage sale or do I stop by the flea market and see how much they want to pay for my stuff? Help!

We have a dog and I don't know what to do with all her "stuff". Would putting it into the compost pile hurt the pile or help it or what? I don't want to mess it all up. This is the first time I've done one. Thanks!

While replacing our carpet we found (3) 10 foot long cracks in our concrete slab foundation. The house is 2 years old and the builder says this is normal. Cracks are 1/8 inch but one is about 1/4 inch wide.

In a house that I'm buying (both from scratch) and I wanted to know what I should purchase (other than the appliances themselves)? We're going to get a contractor friend to do it, but I guess what I'm asking is if there are there bundled wires or connections that I should plan on buying at the same as the the appliances, or do they typically come with those?

I've noticed that the stores in my area have started selling mums for planting. Some of them have tons of flowers but many are still just green. Which ones should I buy to plant? Are the ones that haven't flowered better because they will bloom later and thus last longer into the winter? I know nothing about gardening.
