I have a very nice brown pasley comforter by nautica (light and dark brown) and i need help with a decorating sceme. i've kinda settled with an orange color for the walls and matching brown and orange furniture. is this a good choice? should i go with some other colors? are there any more colors that would look good? also if you know of a free 3d bedroom design place where i can design my bedroom that would be great thanks.

I have a rather large space (17x17 ft) with a vaulted ceiling that angles up and creates a plant shelf above the door to the master bath. I would like some suggestions on what to do with this shelf area. It is about 12 ft long and 4 ft deep and is about 9 ft from the floor and is 5 ft tall. I would say that our style is "transitional" not too contemporary and not too traditional. Also I am having trouble with the color scheme. Our furniture is dark cherry, our bedding is khaki and creme striped and the carpet is beige. The walls are currently khaki and all of the neutrals are starting to get to me!! I would like to add some color but with such large walls I am afraid of being overwhelmed. Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Thanks!

My house was built in 1984 and the AC/heating unit has broken for good so I need a new one. The old unit is a 24000 BTU unit with no SEER rating, because it's so old. Everyone I have talked to says replace the heat pump, central air, air handler, dehumidifier, etc. all at once.
I live on the Eastern Shore of MD, for climate reference.
My home was built in 1984 it is a split foryer that is 1600 sq ft. All of the windows and doors are original.

Could someone please give me some advice on;
1. How big should the new unit be (tons)?
2. What SEER rating I should get, value to cost ratio? I'm trying to save money here.
3. If I can install it myself ? I have an electrician friend and a plumber friend at my disposal.
4. About how much the whole system will cost? (Ballpark) I need to save up for it.

I guess I am luck that the old one lasted as long as it did :)

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

There was melted candle wax and I thought it hardened and I stuck my gas lighter in too deep(gas lighter is the long lighter that's like a gun). Well, I got out the wax and everything and now it doesn't work. How do I fix it without buying a new one?

My room has white walls, 3 windows with wood around, an antique desk and antique drawer, white carpeting, and a mirror on one wall. I have a few small holes in the walls because of pictures. I drew on the walls because i was going to paint different designs, but i decided not to. I want to spice up my room so it makes it easier to live in. What should I add? My sheets are spirograhs (light blue, lime green, light and dark pink with a white background) and the comforter is dark blue one side and light blue the other. What should i do?

I am looking to get an aluminum fence put up around my home is West Virginia. I need it to be 4ft tall and meet BOCA standards. The fence will cover 389 feet and have a 10ft gate. I have one quote of 14,000 and a second quote of 12,500. I still have more companies coming out to see what they have to say. I received estimates of $7000 to buy the materials and have the fence delivered. So those to quotes still seem high to me. What are you opionions? If you know anyone around Martinsburg, WV that will charge a fair price let me know.

I am thinking way ahead for my gardens next year. I would like some reccomendations from people living and gardening in the North East (southern New England) on some hardy plants. I would like to know some good species for a butterfly/hummingbird garden. I already have a few plants that attract them: butterfly bush, zinnias, salvia, daises, coral bells, lavender, begonias and a bleeding heart. These are the plants that I have seen the butterflies and hummingbirds on. I would like to expand the garden and attract more and different species throughout the spring, summer and early fall. I would also like reccommendations for evergreens, preferably with berries or leaves that change colors (to red in fall, for example) and some reccommendations for good cutting plants. I know that's alot, thank you in advance!

I've been trying to fix up my garden, but it seems like the old stuff keeps growing back.

The culprits are those furry leaves that look like rabbit ears, and there's also some wildflowers. They keep coming back (big-time).

How do I renovate the garden so I can start over fresh? It's in-between my patio and the surrounding fence. It's in an L-shape, wrapped around the patio. I'd say it's about 18' long, by 2' wide.

And if I have to dig all the old stuff up... how deep do I have to go? And how would I get rid of the dirt, and find new dirt to replace it?

We have a few wild pumpkins growing (this isn't the first time - apparently they're easy to start). One of them is nice and orange, although not huge.

Can I just leave it on as long as possible (I mean, before the first frost) or is there a point where I should pull it? I'm starting to see some discoloration on it.

Note: I'm in northern New England.

Having a problem with my hot water and heating boiler that broke up and leaked, I was suggested by their representatives in Athens Greece a modification with a different new boiler.
Wanting to avoid possible further problems, I sent on June 11th an e-mail explaining the nature and the suggested solution for my problem and for guidence.
7 days later, june 18th, they reply asking me the specifics of the broken boiler, which I sent them right away the same day.
On July 27th having no answer yet, I re-sent the first e-mail with the info.
Today 27th of August, I still have no answer yet.
If that is German efficiency, of which you are notorious of, for a single yes or no answer then I dread to think for a more complex than that answer who long will it take!
We usually were accused of that kind of ineffiency. Hurray !!
Greece is more efficient than Germany !!

Please I need your comments on that whatever they may be.

I'm looking to buy a house, and I have always wanted a kitchen with its own private dining alcove, but i have no idea what it is called in real estate. does anyone know? Usually its about the size of a big pantry, and it can fit a restaurant-style booth..its almost like a big arc cut out of the side of the wall..and it gives you an intimate, restaurant type feeling..i have seen these in a few homes and also in some restaurants. Thanks!
