The knockout roses have been beautiful but they are tall and the bottom of them are looking slim. I was wondering how to prune them or cut them back to promote growing but not kill them where they don't bloom again. Any suggestions, websites with instructions? Thanks

I don't know the first thing about gardening. But we just bought this house and I
d really like a garden next year.

I've been reading and many people recommend using mulch for the soil. Instead of buying it, how do I start composting from scratch?

Please keep your answers in plain english-or explain unique terms as you go! LOL!!

I'm really new to gardening, like I said.

Thank you buckets!

How do you hang picture molding on aging plaster walls?
I need to install picture molding on old plaster walls, but am not confident once the job is done and the first heavy picture is hung the whole system won't come crashing down. How do you know if you use a finish nailer and 2" nails that you have hit anything strong enough to hold up pictures, or do or can you use the trusty stud finder technique. Helpful hints or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I recently changed burners, and it works, but it burns cooler (blue flame, no white tips). How can I heat it up? Increase airflow? If not, is it that I simply don't have enough pressure? The tank was just filled up.

I've planted a watermelon seed, not expecting much from it, but soon it spread out and a large watermelon is on it. I've noticed it believe it or not. When is the best time to pick it anyway? There's another one, a small one, round with a black tip. I hope nothings wrong with it.
My biggest question is the leaves. They're being eaten by bugs and are turning brown. Spraying them with insectiside won't hurt watermelon plants will it? thanks

I'm trying to find out where to buy the wall mount a/c units that you mount on the wall like a picture.....I saw it on one of the home improvement shows and I think this might work for me because I'm trying to cool a garage and there are no windows to mount a window unit.

The house is only 4 years old and my plumber seems stumped. I need a new one. He says to periodically pour warm water and bleach, but in the mean-time the water continues to back up. I'm afraid to use drano because I'm not clear on whether or not that's safe.

The core piece is still available and I could replace that there is just the area around the core and the existing wall that was removed by the bit... I have heard of pressure injection. Is this the only way. the hole is about 12 inches deep.

I have a model QF1718498 purchased July, 1996. It runs, but the pan is dry as a bone. It is plenty humid in the basement. Not sure what the problem is. I took the cover off today and tried washing the coils, but no change.
Most of the auto shut off features would shut the whole motor down. It is running, just not pulling any water.

Ants got into my fuse box at my pool and now most of the electric equipment does not work. I tested the connections to the individual components and they seem to have power. My question is: is there a way to test a circuit board to see if its fried or not with a volt meter?

It has been there about 30 years; over old black plastic type stuff. I want to clear the gravel and plant a path, around stepping stones. This goes from the front yard to the back gate.

Can anyone recommend the best way to clear this gravel, tools to use, etc. I am 66 and in good health, but cannot afford to hire a laborer to do this for me. Thank you for your help.

What is the correct way to collect seeds from an already bloomed sunflower?
I scraped many seeds off of a few flowers and layed them out to dry. I left many other flowers alone just in case I wasn't doing it right.

I have an outlet which has three wires, black, white, and red. (20 amp)

The air compressor I'm trying to hook up has a 'similar' plug, but it's a 30 amp, also 3 wires, but one is green (Ground).

How do I convert the outlet to 30amp? Can I use one of the wires as a ground besides green? Thanks.

PS. FYI the plug is a 3 prong "locking" plug, kind of in a circular type shape.
