Well I really think it all depends upon your lifestyle and if you have pets and what the other furnishings are in the room.
I'm picturing a white or off white couch with the dark blue carpeting and light blue walls. However if you have pets that are on the couch all the time hair and dirty paw prints etc will show quite easily. Same if you entertain a lot and are prone to having klutzy guests. LOL
Cushions or pillows would look nice as well.
What you might want to do is look at a color wheel on the net or in a home decor store. Usually if you pick a color that's directly opposite from the one you are already using you'll find that the two colors compliment each other quite well. Cushions should contain some of the color that's in your walls, carpet and whichever couch/loveseat color you choose.

I'd go with a neutral color for the couch because then you can always change the wall color and the accesories around and not have to worry about the color of the sofa. I'd suggest like a Khaki color, or gray...then if you decide that hey you want to change the wall color you still can without worying about the color of the couch.

There are a lot of ways to accomplish what you want, but the easiest is to run with an aquatic theme. If you start with an aqua/teal coat then paint in curvy lines of modulating thickness in cornflower, waves if you will. Then all you need do is add silhouettes, carvings or sculptures of sea creatures and the human imagination will usually make the room seem bigger; because of the association with the vastness of the ocean. If you don't feel like putting that much work into it you could also paint it sand or taupe. Just put glass ornaments on the window and shade any artificial light sources with image decorated covers. The Sun moving you window's ornamental refractions and the distraction of nighttime light variances can do much to draw the mind away for a room's size.

If you like blue, maybe a really light blue, lighter than the walls.
Or a beige. Beige goes with pretty much everything....
White would make it stand out, if you're into the whole bold look...
But maybe even a white with navy cushions.

Try a white, gray, or black. Add pillows the same color as the bedding, or a print of both. blues and gray [ or white or black ].
Neutral colors can be re- used when you move to a new home.

i think u just tired of the blues
I would bring in any colour of the couch
pink ( make it look sexy)
red (look more elegant)
yellow (brighter look)
purple ( sweet look)
Try to avoid dark colour coz u have dark blue carpet
like
black
dark green
dark red
brown
orange (yucks)
Or you can view my auction to add some small deco to make your room look more elegant as well
