It really depends on where you live, what the soil composition is and what the local codes are. SO....Most systems have a the first tank for solids and a second tank for grey water. And judging by your earlier post the link between the grey water and the solids tank could be plugged. You dont want to dig in there as there are bacteria and enzymes they place in a tank to eat the solids. If you must...I am an electrician and not a septic guy, but disconnect the power, depending on how old a system it is there is probably afloat and a cord an plug into an outlet nearby, or you may have a lift station which is different. So do you have a a control box or an outlet with plugs.......Ok secondly you probably have the pump down in there pumping into the grey water tank and that may or may not have an outlet to a drain field.....so depending on what system you have you have a few things to look at. By assumption the pump is dead heading into a plugged pipe between the grey water tank and the solids tank. If you have to get gloved up, remove the power and lift it out and clean the pipe in between.......Hope this helps......Good Luck

First of all never, but never open your main entrance to your septic tank!!!! Leave that to the Pro septic tank pumpers!

Septic tanks are very dangerous and full of many deadly bacteria's and diseases! If you were to slip and fall in there you could die in there or you could be deadly ill! Who ever you use to clean out your sepic tank can tell you any answers to any questions you have! You should have the septic tank cleaned out every 2 years! to not have any real problems with it!

When looking down the white tubes that stick out of the ground to see if your tank is getting to full, never breath in the vapors when you pull the cap off! when you want to look in the level flow access tubes, always hold your breath when you get that close! A septic tank will always look pretty full, water is always in the tank, it's the so called slush is what you have to watch for , to much of that is what actually gives problems, many people either forget to have the tank pumped out of the slush or don't know how often there supose to , until it's too late and by then the drain field is plugged and it's very hard to unplug them unless all dug up and replace all the pipes that drain alot of the water out into the ground from the tank, Your tank is getting full when you can see the toilet paper and the other slush pretty close to the tubes that come out of the ground!

It's always better and safer to let the pro's for septics to do the jobs that ever need done to the septic systems!, The next time you have your tank pumped ask the guy the question's you need, there always willing to answer any question you may have! And yes most know everything about any septic tanks!

Didnt you have a plan with regards to the septik tank? Most tanks have 2 chambers, one for the water and the other for the wastes, but you'll know if it is full because you dont easily flush your bowl already. Most especially if your sure nothing is stuck in it (toys of children or anything). Try to see how big is your septik tank and how often you use it, it does not easily filled up, but if it is more than 10 years already then theres a possibility that you need to have someone pump it out already.

if it,s a standard size 2 chambers, first one for solids,
and second one for liquid over flow, as the second chamber fills it flows out to the finger system,
may be full may be 1/2 full depends on how much water you use a day, as long as it works leave it alone, lots of germs working in it, i use rid-x in mine, 1 a month, or a good yeast
