You can't really get the smoke out but you can help get rid of as much as possible by
1. Air out the apt - open all windows , turn on your house fan to get the air out
2. Vacuum your couch, any rugs you can't wash then clean with either an upholstery/rug cleaner or a febreeze type product, make sure to use an empty vacuum bag as to not send the bad dirty bag air back into your apt.
3. wash all fabric that you can that is present such as floor rugs , curtains, throw blankets etc.
4. wash down walls with vinegar and soap water, rinse well with clean water.
5. air freshener, incense, candles, anything that will help cover the bad smell with a good one
6. get a ionic breeze fan or something like it to clean/purify your air in the apt.
7 and lastly don't let your friends smoke in your apt. they should respect you enough not to, at least all my friends do when they come to my place.
And remember the key is to get the bad air out of the apt so air it out then once all this is done you can Breath a bit easier! Good Luck!

Spray Fabreze or pure Vinegar solution in the air. The vinegar acts as a neutralizer...spray it on the furniture, anything, etc. The vinegar may also get rid of the friends if you use it while their there. LOL
Keep highly scented candles burning while they smoke.
You do have a right to ask that they smoke outside and you will even join them until there cig. is gone.

You don't have to get rid of your friends...just STOP letting them smoke in YOUR APT.
YOU don't smoke in it....why should you allow them to?
IF they ARE your FRIENDS, they should have more RESPECT for your home.
It will take time but to help get rid of the scent you already have, place VINEGAR around your apartment in secret places. Pour some in shallow dishes and slide them under the sofa, in a corner behind furniture on top fo a tall chest(anywhere out of sight). In about a week, the scent will begin to subside. Over time it will evaporate so you will need to refill containers. You can use something like a 16 oz. plastic butter tub.

You can get activated charcoal from the pet store---like for aquariums, then put about a half cup on a paper plate and hide under the sofa or out of sight somewhere. You can also put a large amount on a plate on the floor of the ac return. It needs to be changed weekly. Also use either baking soda or cat litter in the ash trays.Wash wood furniture with murphy's oil soap because nicotene sticks to everything.Clean blinds, shutters, and ceiling fans with soapy water.Or-tell them to go outside to smoke!!!!!!!!!!

When I use to smoke non of my non-smoker friends or even most of my smoker friends let me smoke inside their house because they didn't either. Make it a new rule in your home, it is not something that they are not use to. When you smoke you know that their are others who do not like it and its just a downfall to smoking. After you make the rule, scrub down your walls, all of your stuff, it is a very hard smell to get rid of. When I smoked, I smoked in my house, now that I have quit (and no one smokes in my house) all of my furniture still smells like smoke. Little apartments especially just pack in that smoke and why should you have to pay if you don't smoke, I know the smell alone can give you headaches and make you sick. good luck

you can burn incense at the same time your friends smoke in your place and it will take away the smoky smell...also use a bleach and water mixture on your walls and celling to get rid of the tar that accumulates there and causes the smell to stay. The BEST way to keep the smell out is to put your foot down and tell your friends that you DO NOT want them to smoke in your place

Open all the windows, and turn on all the fans.
Febreeze everything.
maybe invest in an ionizer.
Candles wont hurt either.
That should do the trick.
And tell your friends to slow down on the smoking, or they can buy that ionizer for you. :)

It is a major undertaking, and cannot succeed unless you prohibit smoking in your unit. You will need to wash the walls and ceiling, clean the drapes, and steam-clean the carpet and upholstered furniture. By the time you are done, you will have spent around $1,000.

if you have fresh air circulating the house it will eventually get rid of the smell(this could take months), have your friends smoke near open windows, you can rearrange your furniture so smokers can be closer to windows, and keep your windows open during the day when you are gone(if its safe)
