All of the drains where I live are clogged but my bathroom is the worst. Now the water takes hours to drain from the tub. I have tried liquid drano and the industrial strength powder.

Any suggestions as to how to unclog a stubborn drain?

Someone told me there is some solution that you can create using household items that works really well something about a bleach solution perhaps. Does this sound familiar to anyone?

I have a 1950's cape cod style home. The attic (crawl space) just has small vents on the house under either side of the peak. They're small louvered vents that blend in with the siding (don't know what they're actually called).

The upstairs holds a tremendous amount of heat so we're hoping more ventilation could help. Initially we were going to put in a ridge vent -- but the roof has a center beam so it's not a viable option, the eaves do not overhang so that also is not an option.

What are your suggestions?

I have a sewage problem. I called the city, they sent someone out to my house, he pretty much just got out of his truck didn't even look at anything, just told me that it was "my" problem not the cities. My sinks and toilet are draining fine, but when flushed we can hear a bubbling type noise in the pipes and it's draining out of the pipe that comes out of the back of the house. My problem is I have no money, I am on maternity leave, scheduled to be enduced monday 8-13-07. I am worried about my kids getting sick because of this. Is there anybody or any company you know of that could help me out?I don't want a hand out, I will be able to pay when i return to work, i just need something done quick, please help!!!!

Our airport is 3500' long. We want to divide it every 10' with yellow nylon rope. What can we use for free-standing posts or stanchions? 3500' / 10 = 350 spaces X 2 stanchions = 700

That's a lot. They gotta be inexpensive.

Any ideas? Thanks.

We bought a showerhead that's great, but it doesn't adjust for height or space. It sprays too high for me, but great for my husband.
The previous (already installed) standard showerhead moved in several directions so we could adjust the showerhead spray.
I don't want a handheld, just a showerhead that moves/swivels/adjusts. I've been searching for one online but can't find a single one that describes one that can adjust. After all, people don't take a shower in one position only, do they?

I have a building that is actually two adjoining buildings under one roof. This means that I have a large brick wall in the middle. I actually like having the brick there, but I would like to clean it. Is it possible to sandblast the interior walls? What issues do I need to take into consideration? If sandblasting isn't an option, are there any other suggestions for cleaning the walls? One wall is 270 sq ft, so a wire brush isn't really an option.

Note: everything is unfinished, so I have no framing to worry about and only subfloors.

My apartment is about 350 square feet, and right now there is no heating system. I am worried about (a) starting a fire if I leave a space heater on while I'm not home, and (b) freezing my pets and pipes if I turn a space heater off while I'm not home. My landlord is an idiot...please help!

I like the look of the slide-in range as opposed to a freestanding or drop in. However, I am concerned about the backspash. We are planning on a new countertop with a 4 inch backsplash, and then tile between the countertop and the cabinet.

Does a slide-in have any counterspace behind it (or can it?) to allow for a uniform backsplash along the whole back wall? If not, then I'll either do a drop in or think about a countertop without the 4 inch and just do tile.
Thanks.

Recently replaced older UPVC windows with new ones from Anglian Windows. When the sales man came up to visit we advised that we were looking to get new ones as we live on a main road and the current windows were letting in heaps of noise. He said that we'd really notice a difference. Now they are in, they are no better than the older ones!! I've complained till I'm blue in the face and I'm now in the position of having to get them replaced (again!) by another company. They're chasing for the balance of the payment and I just wondered if installing windows which do not cut out the vast majority of noise contravines the Sale of Goods Act?

We built a new house and moved in a year ago. Throughout the house I have noticed these tiny insects, usually white in the kitchen & brownish on furniture. They move very fast and are tiny, i usually only notice them on the black worktop or black tiled floors in the kitchen, bathroom & utility room and on the wooden furniture throughout the house. They seem to develop wherever dust/food particles have been left for more than a day.I seem to need to clean every single day to prevent these insects running about. What are they, i am paranoid I am keeping my house clean enough.is there anything else i can do to get rid of these things and is it the warmer weather that makes them seem worse?
