I want to make a raised bed. I would like it too look deep, but dont really want to pay to fill it with dirt. Is there something else I can fill it with 1/2 way so it wont cost as much, since I wont be planting anything that deep? What do I need to do?
Thanks

I'm hoping to make some country style signs and it's much cheaper to buy large pieces of wood from Home Depot, than the pre-cut and shaped pieces from craft stores. Is there a smaller type of handheld saw that makes smooth cuts through 1" thick wood? One sign I would like to make will be shaped like a house with a chimney, so some of the cuts will be shorter. Also, is it a dremel tool that you use to finish the edge of the wood to make it look fancier? Any advice is welcome! Thank you! :)

I moved into a house Saturday that I just bought and discovered my sewer line drains real slow and upon snaking it discovered roots in it. I called my insurance (first house, didn't know) and of course it's not covered. I know my options are yearly augering and chemicals or total repair. Clearly, first house, I'm hardcore broke. My boyfriend wants to rent an industiral snake and do it ourselves. I'm scared though we have busted pipes and if it bursts and damages the house insurance won't pay a penny because they knew I knew there was a problem. I would hate to repair, but don't want to put an 300 dollar bank aid on it via roto rooter every year.

If this were your house what would you do?

We aren't able to change the living room floor. There is a huge window so a lot of light can enter the room. I was thinking about a terracotta orangy colour. My boyfriend wants blue! Eww! We need help ASAP. Also lots of dark wood furnishings, ex. end tables, piano. Also a one dark wood panelling wall in the room.

I am very VERY new to gardening. This morning I bought five beautiful hydrangeas and I've spent ALL DAY preparing the beds to be planted. In doing this, I noticed that this area doesn't EVER receive what I would call direct sunlight. I really want to plant them there, will they work?

I have a little "patio" outside my back door, where I keep my kids bikes and trash can and such. Well, the painters got paint all over my kids bikes. They're only small little kids bikes, $35 for one and $20 for the other. But should I complain to someone about the paint? Shouldn't they have asked me to move any of my stuff that was gonna get paint on it? Should they have to pay for ruining these bikes, or was it my responsibility?
I just bought them on christmas, so they were fairly new...

Are June Bugs & Japanese Beetles the same thing?? Some people have told me they are while others say that they are two completely different insects. Which is it???

I'm talking about the huge, annoying, copper-colored ones that you can hear when they fly around & hit things....and they hurt if they hit you. So are they the same thing??

Also, whats a good tried & true way to get rid of them or severely lessen the amount in the area???

Also, are there any repellants that can be used much like citronella with mosquitoes??? I'm so terrified beyond belief of them (& I don't know why!) that I am rarely able sit outside at night anymore & I'd love to be able to more often!!

My mother's birthday is Friday. I would like to get her a plant for her backyard. What is a pretty plant or bush that I could get her that will come back every year and that is ok to plant this late in the summer. She lives in Oklahoma if that matters. Thanks.

this is a B&S 17.5hp, OHV, single cylinder engine, labeled as a Craftsman I/C engine.

this engine is 2 years old, but barely used. i just started using it today and it sounds like this. cuts the grass fine, but my old 17hp (almost exactly the same as this one) worked much better then this. it never bogged down unless i was cutting through really thick grass or pulling a heavy load, and when i engage the blades, it got up to speed in less than 2 seconds and ran at a higher rpm.
this engine also takes a while to get up to redline. my old engine was quick revving like a car.
could this be from an improper fuel/air ratio?

i also installed it myself, what could have gone wrong? everything fit the same as my old engine.
