Ok sweetie, I suspect that you cant go to the store and get the nail polish remover yourself. So here are a few tricks.
Tip # 1 - use window cleaner. use a different paper towel everytime dont use the same one. you dont want to make the blotch bigger. Use dishwashing soap afterwards to get the smell out.
Tip#2 - use vinegar- blot it dont rub it in- then of course the soap
if you do get nail polish remover use NON- ACETONE wont discolor the carpet
Tip #3: Any NON-acetone finger nail polish remover will take that off and not hurt the carpet. Take a paper towel soak it down a little and wipe it off. Try to keep the area contained that you rub, at first it will look like you are smearing it around, just keep changing paper towels with a new one until stain is gone. You need to change your cloth several times so you're not sliding polish over a bigger area. When done a liquid dish soap will get the smell out of the carpet.
Tip#4 - suck it up and tell them. Better to get it over with then later. I know with my daughter I rather her tell me so I can fix the problem then wait till later and I can no longer fix it.
I wish you the best

Smiles. With all due respect, this category,,, DIY suggests exactly that.
Certainly you have options, but I suspect you may not have the resources for cleaning up an OOPS? Or the benefit of knowledge, in how to best do that.
I also suspect that "KILL" is a bit harsh in your belief about what might happen,,, and without wanting to sound "Preachy" ...Honesty isn't a totally BAD thing. Please let us know however if you are in fact KILLED over this. To take this just a bit farther "Knowledge" is something we often gain AFTER we need it. Certainly you aren't the first to post such a question, and as a parent I try hard to "GET IT" as to why young people do things they may not think about, with regard to consequences,,,before the fact.
No real offense meant. I was young once and OOPS was part of the process. Certainly there are times and places to DO things, that might cause negative consequences without wondering,,,"Gee what might happen if I spill nail polish on the carpet, while I have my fave MTV video on?"
FESS UP... it might be that your parents have far more, and better solutions, than you'll find here, or come up with on your own.
On a lighter note, if you own a Dog, or have siblings, and may LIE anyway,,, just tell Mom and Dad..."THEY DID IT."

Hydrogen peroxide will do the same thing as nailpoilish remover if you have that. I have also he rad you can use water rubbing alcohol and hairspray. the secret to a stain is to keep it wet with water when it is new and it won't set in.
Obviously depending on what type of carpet you have these chemicals could stain it.

Can you cut it out with scissors? I don't know how deep the stains go but that is a possibility... Try to cut the stain out. Leave as much of the undamaged carpet as possible.
Disclaimer: If you damage the carpet and your parents get mad, I am not responsible.
