yeah you can drown some types of plants. what kind of plants are they?

one way to tell if they are getting too much water is if when you are watering it the the water doesnt soak into the soil.

Definetly ~
Are you talking potted plants or in the ground?
Potted plants are a higher risk for overwatering, feel the soil for how wet it is. If it's soggy put them where they get a lot of air movement, like outside, if you use a fan make sure it just hits the plants gently. Then don't let them go totally dry, just till the soil feels spongy or a little moist. That way you're not stressing them out by putting them to extreems.
Less chance of damage outside & probably, depending where you are, they need the water daily. If you do have plants sogged outside all you can do is not water for a while.
Good Luck :)

Plant roots need access to air in the soil. If you constantly flood them they can die from over watering.

There are also some succulent plants like cactus that are used to soaking up a lot of water during brief showers. If they are over watered they will seek to soak up all of the water and will get soggy and will collapse and die.

Try just watering when the soil on the surface looks dry. That way the plants will at least survive till your parents get back.

One of the most common reasons for plant death is over-watering. Use the most vsluable tool you hzave - your hand - to check to see if your plants do indeed need to be watered. Stick your finger into the ground or potting soil, down aabout an inch. If the soild is dry you need to water, if not, leave well enough alone.

Yes, they can & in most cases, plants need to be watered just once a week, if they're inside plants. If the soil is damp to the touch, then leave it alone.

Yes--They can die from over watering.

Guess I need more info.....

Are they indoor or outdoor plants ?
If indoor- water them about every five days.

Outdoor- if it is dry in your area, you can water them every day.

you bet, they can get root rot from too much water.
the soil for a lot of house plants should be barely damp, and you can spray them with a fine water spray once every few days.
