I'm redecorating my home office as a surprise for my fiance for when he gets back home next month...I am trying to make it more of a "manly" type of office. He is a huge football fan, so I have already bought 4 autographed helmets, 4 autographed jerseys, and two autographed footballs and the display cases for all of them. The helmets will go on a new bookcase but there will still be a lot of room on it not taken...and the jerseys and footballs will be mounted onto the walls...What are some other ideas to make a "manly" office?

They don't have to be sports related because I don't want the entire room full of football stuff because then it will become tacky...

We are going to spend money on a vaccum cleaner that actually works! So, which is better a Dyson or an Oreck? I know that models vary, but if you compared similar prices of each which is better?

My neighbor installed a fence after our house sold and about two months before we are scheduled to move out. We were not consulted about the fence, it's timeline, cost, materials, etc at any time. But now before we move out in less than two weeks they presented a bill to us for $1200 for costs/labour. Is it my moral obligation to pay my part for the fence, the new owner's, or is it just bad timing on my neighbour's part?

I hooked the garden hose to the tap in the garage. It leaked heavily at the tap. I hooked it up to another tap in the garage and it leaked just as heavily. I bought a new hose. I hooked the new hose to both taps and it still leaks at the tap. I had my husband hook it up to each tap to make sure it was as tight as it would go... what next?
My garage is getting soaked... and I need to water the flowers often.

Thanks for your help!

Below is a description from my rental house. Any idea what might be wrong to cause this? Washer used to get cold water OK: Would a plumber or appliance repair person fix this?

It appears my washer is receiving only hot water no matter
what temp I select. I usually let laundry sit in the washer a few hours, but today I did two loads and each in the dryer immediately. One was cold, one was hot, but both came out the same temp - hot.

I have had a problem with my toilet for the last 2-3 months. I cannot afford a plumber and want to try to do it myself. I have lived in this house for ten years and I have never had any problems up until now. When I drain the dishwater, it goes directly into the toilet, water rises to the top and almost overflows. There is back up when I use the washing machine; that is it only drains so much into the pipe and backs up. The water that goes into the machine, smells, not bad, but enough. Of course when I flush after I use it, it again flows to the top and nothing gets flushed away. Ah yes, I need a new wax seal as when the water level goes down it is coming out of the side. It's a mess. I've tried a plunger, bleach, liquid plumber, nothing works. Any help would really help. Thx.

Just noticed them this morning, totally destroying my basil. I'd like to eat this basil, so I'd rather not use poison. The plants are in a large container off the ground and I have never had a problem with Japanese beetles before. Any advice on how to get rid of them and hopefully save my poor basil??

I maintain that it is more cost-efficient to keep the central air conditioning on at a high temperature (like 79 or 80 degrees) if I'm going away for a long weekend, than to turn it off and have to cool down a hot house when I return. Friends tell me this isn't true. Does any expert out there know the answer?

My kitchen floor has old linolium on it that I want to replace. I'd like to try to do it myself but I am not sure what would be the easiest, cheapist way to go. The kitchen is pretty small. I am considering more linolium, tile, or that fake wood flooring. Anyone have any input?

For the past seven years I have been able to grow rhubarb from a bulb every year without any problems. I would get about 5kg of rhubarb every year and it was delicious. Now this year it's simply disappeared, it's not sprouted at all. Does rhubarb "sleep"? Could it come back next year? Or has it been eaten by something before it could grow? If so, what?
