I hooked the garden hose to the tap in the garage. It leaked heavily at the tap. I hooked it up to another tap in the garage and it leaked just as heavily. I bought a new hose. I hooked the new hose to both taps and it still leaks at the tap. I had my husband hook it up to each tap to make sure it was as tight as it would go... what next?
My garage is getting soaked... and I need to water the flowers often.

Thanks for your help!

It seems too simple that you would forget about a washer in the female connector of the hoses used. It is a good chance that your faucet handle has a leak.

You will need to turn the water off to that section of pipe, then either replace the entire hosebib (valve) or if it allows, remove the part of the valve, the handle shaft, and replace the washer inside.

I couldn't find an exact match to send you but the site below can give you an idea of whats inside a hosebib valve.

If you look at photo # 3. That is similar to what you will see.

Also is another site for review.

When you hooked it up did you make sure you put the washer that came with it onto the part that you attached to the tap? If you have a good washer and put the hose threads on straight you should have no leakage.

Check that part which is usually the main problem.

Sounds like you aren't putting the rubber washer in the hose before you hook-up.

you forgot to put the washer in it, ,the metal wire that holds the hose together when new has a rubber washer that is supposed to go into the hose end you hook up to the house,

look inside of the connector theres supposed to be a washer inside there to prevent leaks, if its not there get one from the hardware store and put it in and try again theres no such thing as an accidental leak in a hose unless the operator doesnt know what they are doing.
