I'm redecorating my home office as a surprise for my fiance for when he gets back home next month...I am trying to make it more of a "manly" type of office. He is a huge football fan, so I have already bought 4 autographed helmets, 4 autographed jerseys, and two autographed footballs and the display cases for all of them. The helmets will go on a new bookcase but there will still be a lot of room on it not taken...and the jerseys and footballs will be mounted onto the walls...What are some other ideas to make a "manly" office?

They don't have to be sports related because I don't want the entire room full of football stuff because then it will become tacky...

Go with bold dark colors. You want more square shaped stuff than round. Go with dark wood for anything you do. What color are the walls? Are they dark? They should be a lighter neutral color. "Manly" things that I think about would be mostly neutral and earthy tones. I don't know what you're wanting to put in there but a fake tree would be a nice accent. No flowers, etc just a tree in a wicker pot. A nice leather chair? Hope this helps!

Use the colors of his favorite team(s) for decorating. I recommend either metal or dark wood furniture. Is there going to be a TV on the wall for watching the games? The desk should have a comfortable (perhaps oversized) chair and perhaps a comfy chair for when you join him in his office.

Roman shades would be a good choice for the windows - drapes might be too formal.

A rubber tree in a nice pot might be a good accent for the room (not too difficult to care for).

1] Furniture in medium to dark woods
2] walls in his favorite light color and [ blue, gray, sage, caramel ]carpet in his favorite bright or dark color [ sapphire blue, ruby red, emerald green, chocolate brown, etc. ]
3] leather chair [ black or brown, unless room is too dark, then caramel, medium gray, or match the carpet ]
4] blinds for window, to match walls, or plain white or ivory.
5] drapes that match upholstery or carpet
6] 'manly' plants - small tree, cactus
7] a great picture of you and him
8] 'manly' desk accessories in wood, leather, or metal - blotter, pen/pencil box, desk tray, etc.
9] paintings, posters, or photos of favorite projects, hobbies [ other than football ]

male colors - beige, brown woods, dark reds or greens
( or all of those mixed)

plaid upholstery

maybe bricks

but the colors he likes, and the styles he likes will be more appreciated than just "manly" decorating

OK, I can see you don't like my answer, but the question was what would "he" like and I say this would make his year.
