I primed and painted a birch desk with high quality paint and it looked great. After applying the second coat, though, the weather became extremely humid and rainy. It has been that way for three days and the paint won't dry. It feels sticky and looks like it has condensation on it. The weather is supposed to continue to be VERY humid and stormy and the desk is outside under the porch. What should I do to fix the problem? Should I bring it inside to dry? Should I try to soak up the condensation with a towel? Is my desk ruined???

I change my sheets every other week. Like once this week skip next ect. But when I was talking about it, everyone said I change mine every week. I think it is a waste to use energy when you really don't need too, so is washing your sheets once a week too much or not enough? And a better question, washing your sheets every other week is that even hygenic? I mean I am very hygenic so I would think it would not be a problem.

I have heard you need to routes of egress when you have a basement bedroom. Do the stairs to the upstairs count as one? The basement in our future home has windows that open downstairs, but they are only big enough for an average sized person to squeeze out of. The basement is also a walk out basement - would that door count as a 2nd exit? Or do you think we'd have to get larger windows?

OK...My husband and I are re-doing out backyard. We removed 17...yes 17 over grown shrubs, and tilled the backyard. Now we need to get some new dirt, level it out and lay seed. The problem is that we keep ketting major weeds EVERYWHERE back there. What can I do do prevent them from coming up when we lay the seed? I have a 2 year old son and want to be able to play with him back there but there are just too many picky weeds. I was going to get Weed and Feed, but the bag said not to use it unless the lawn is 2 months old or more. Is there anything I can mix with th seed to get a nice grassy yard with no weeds?

is epoxy adhesive flammable, especially in an electric current? i just fixed an electrical appliance here in the house and some of the epoxy fell and hardened on the plug. while i've gotten a lot out, there's still some on the plug and i'm not sure if this will pose a potential fire hazard once i plug it in the socket.

We are redoing our roof and have had several different suggestions for venting. We have a decent size house and only 1 roof vent, so we know this is inadequate. Been told to do 1 "power vent" and told that you use this instead of other vents rather than in addition to? Someone else said just put 5 or 6 more roof vents. Another told us to do ridge vents, I think they were, along the top of the roof. We have a split level house and it is already difficult to keep it cool because it is so open to the lower level. Any suggestions best venting to use to maximize keeping attic cool? Thanks so much.

I just want to mount the receptacle box and run the wire, I assure you I'll have an electrician do the hookup, but just didn't want to go to the trouble and use too light of gauge wire.

I have read numerous sites regarding why Modular is as good or better than construction but I have yet to see a site speaking of why construction is better, or about things to be cautious about when choosing modular. Since modular as the better seems to be covered so heavily on the web, can someone tell me what are some points as to why construction is better than modular?
Thanks
(reference to websites covering this appreciated as well)

I live in a condominimum complex and there are a lot of tall, beautiful oak trees around. Recently, a treecutter crew came by removing some lower branches off the trees, making them look "empty" and now you can see much more trunk then before. It's much uglier in my opinion.

Why did they remove those branches? They didn't seem to block anything or overhang anything they weren't dangereous branches at all!

Ok, so when I first moved into my new apartment, I found 2 roaches (1 in a sink, 1 under the sink)... there was nothing in the sink bc there was no food or dishes yet in the apartment. Now I have been actively looking for the things, and their poop... every cupboard, 5 times/day morning, afternoon, night time after the lights have been off for a couple of hours... nothing. I have been extraordinarily sanitary (I even dry the sink after use).

What I did notice though was a small shelf under the sink that I didn't line had roach poop on it...i cleaned it off, and nothing ever since, and the shelves that I did line have NOTHING at all. Also it seems as though some steel wool was put around the openings in the cabinets. Now I'm not sure if we brought in a few roaches from the moving truck (I had never seen a roach or their poop before this apt) or if this apartment has had roaches before. Any ideas? If I have been actively looking and haven't seen any in days, is that good?

I am toying with the idea of removing my bath and fitting a corner shower cubicle in it's place. Thus creating space in the bathroom....

Does the electricity supply have to come in from above the unit or isn't there a hard n fast rule...? and.... if I use the existing cold water supply from the bath...what is the best insulation for the pipes if I am to recess them into the wall and plaster and tile over them?

I live in a house share in the UK - 5 people, each with a bedroom that is their responsibility, but with communal living areas. We have sort of cleaning rota, but it frequently falls behind target and the house ends up looking like a tip.
