help me get rid of moles. i do not care if they decide to live in my yard. Since they eat bugs and other pests wich i hate even more. But we use our yard a lot, how can i get them to move to another area so no one breaks an ankle????

thnks for the ideas, but one problem i have with some are the chemicals.... i have a 2 yr old daughter, and 3mo old puppy, they both like to dig in the exposed dirt. the dog will try to burrow and will track the tunnels all over the yard..my daughter also has allergies.. so i already had to remove all flowering plants... what would work that would be safe for both????????????????????

Get a piece of netting, the kind used to protect cherry trees from birds. Cut a bunch of 1 foot squares of the netting and scrunch them up into balls. Stuff the netting balls into every mole hole you can find. That will catch some moles and annoy the rest so that they leave you in peace.

Try the castor oil spray that you can buy now. You can buy it at lowes or garden center under different brand names. It usually comes in a container that you can hook your water hose too. I think it may come in a granular now too that you water in. It is just plain old castor oil that makes them go away because it makes their trail so slimy they cant dig their way through. You have to keep the area moistened and spray every couple months i believe. This is about the only way I know of except the milky spore which someone metioned before. It acts as a deterent because there is no grubs in the ground. Therefore no food supply no moles. The only problem here is the price. Very expensive. It is sold two ways. One in a granular spreader type bag which runs aboun 40 dollars a bag. You must spread this kind 6 times to get rid of them. This will mean at least six bags for small yards. You can spread your yard six times in one day or you can spread it over a year or so. The other is a canister which you spread manually on your yard in a checkerboard pattern about every three or four feet. It sells for 90.00 to cover 5000 square feet. You only have to apply this one once though. Only problem if your neighbor dont use milky spore too then it will not be as successful. I have tried all the juicy fruit, moth balls, etc and they dont work for me. Good Luck!
Grub X will also work. Almost forgot this one. The only drawback to this one is that it also kill all your earthworrms. Earthworms are very beneficial to your soil especially if you garden or plan to garden. Applied every couple of months I think. It is a chemical though and not natural.

Get rid of their food source. moles eat bugs and worms, yes, but they prefer grubs. Apply an insecticide that kills grubs and it will virtually eliminate any reason for the grubs to be there. Milky spore is a natural nematode (an organic solution) that kills Japanese beetle grubs and it will help, but there are grubs that it doesn't work on. I'd suggest triazicide or grub-ex fairly early in the spring and another application in about a month for best control.

My grandpa used Juicy Fruit gum, he said to stick it in the ground where a tunnel is. there are also mole traps that you stick in the ground over a tunnel. when a mole sets it off, it pokes spikes into the ground hoping to stab it. then just pull out the trap and dead mole stays in the ground. a little violent, but solves the problem.
