We want low-e for sure but...

Should we spend the extra money to have the argon gas or is it not really worth it? What other things should we look for when buying windows? We want engery efficent windows but don't have much money right now.

At first we contacted contractors through word of mouth, and yellow pages, to come and give us an estimate on a very large garage. Most of them never kept any of their appointments.
So, I figured ok, I'll place an ad! This way any contractors out there that are in need of work will contact us.
GET THIS! Five kept their appointments, given plans for the building, and NOT one contractor has called us back with an estimate. It has been three weeks now.
What's up??
We live in the South (NC), and originally from Long Island NY. Never has this happened up North.
Isn't it the contractors job to contact us with an estimate?
Why waste everyone's time? Tell us up front if you can't handle the job.
Just curious if I am the only one here that this has happened before.

I gave my 2 year old crayons that I thought would wipe off of the bath tub (they are the crayons that come with a dry erase activity mat), and now nothing will take it off. I've tried foaming bathtub cleaner, bleach, 409, sos pads, WD-40 and even an organic carpet cleaner (I was desperate). Does anyone know of a magic formula for getting something like that off? The tub we have must be extremely porous because it's as if I let her draw with permanent marker. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

I have never used bleach before. My whites are not so white anymore. Can you use bleach on a white shirt that has a picture on it, or do it have to be completely white?

In the past two years, we have tried to grow some pumpkins. We have had great vines, but everytime they flower, they just wilt with no fruit. They look like they try to form some fruit, but it doesn't last. Is there something else we should try? I have put an all purpose fertilizer in the soil and then water them every couple of days, if there isn't any rain.

Recently I needed some work done on an outlet, a switch, and two lights in my garage. Essentially I just needed the whole thing wired correctly so that all the components worked.

The only guy I could get to answer his phone, let alone pay me a visit, was a "master electrician" whose card I found on a corkboard in a local coffee shop.

The guy was very pleasant and professional, but he charged me $285 for about 15 minutes worth of work and no parts. I'm rationalizing to myself that I couldn't have done the work myself, and given how hard it's been even finding an electrician, I was better off paying what he asked than getting a bunch of people to come give me estimates over a period of a week or so.

But bottom line: did I get ripped off?
