For the past seven years I have been able to grow rhubarb from a bulb every year without any problems. I would get about 5kg of rhubarb every year and it was delicious. Now this year it's simply disappeared, it's not sprouted at all. Does rhubarb "sleep"? Could it come back next year? Or has it been eaten by something before it could grow? If so, what?

I have had rhubarb plants since I was a little kid. Thjy have never died or failed to come up in springtime. It does not sleep but will not comeback if there is nothing there now.

Do you see any of the roots where it was? Do they look hollow and rotted? Do they even exist? Try again with new plants and keep an eye on their growth.
