There is no definitive answer to this question as it is subjective. However, if you would like to go complimentary, lighter colors would be apropos. If you prefer contrast, darker colors would be the order of the day.

Go with a darker color, so it doesn't look so washed out. It is hard to give you examples because you do not state wall color or anything. I really like the dark browns with black speckles. Or ever a darker grey color. I generally do not like Black for the overall countertop color. Either way, getting new granite is fun. Take home lots of samples, play with them, and you are sure to choose something fantastic!!

Depends on large appliance colors, floor covering, wall colors, etc.
Suggestions:
1] beige with tan, brown, and ivory specks
2] gray with charcoal, black, and white specks
Both of these color countertops would go with most colors.
Have fun!

Darker gray/black granite would look best in my opinion. You could also go with a darker earth tone like green or brown. Think contrasting colors.

Grey or charcoal base with flecks would look best. That will allow your more expensive material (the countertop) to stand out.
