Does it die when you pull it? (seriously)

Is the throttle cable attached to the push handle?

How does it die? Does it bog and wheeze a little first, or does it just stop as though you've cut the ignition?

Did you anchor the throttle cable onto the engine when you fixed it? If not, when you push the mower you are closing the throttle. Make sure the cable is attached to the engine and not just the wire end of the cable, the cable housing.

chances are the governor spring is messed up or missing. There are about 2 or 3 springs that help control the throttle of a small engine. If one of those springs are missing or stretched out, the engine could die out like you mentioned.

My mower does the same thing. Although it doesn't die out completely, the spring settings are the problem.

I assume you've filled it with gas and checked the oil...

It's not clogged up at all, is it?

You may want to check the spark plug, and the connection to the spark plug. Something may be loose. I had this problem with my mower not too long ago.

Is it flooding out, or just dying? Seeing as how you just fixed the throttle, could it be you need to adjust it a little?

Just a few ideas....

go simple first, like most push mowers there's a bar that needs to be held down when starting and for motor to continue to run.(it is a safety shut down feature) if the cable gets starched over time it will cause problems starting and running.have your boy friend tighten up on the cable.this is a common problem and i make a fortune out of it doing the repair..if that is not the cause check the spark plug and clean replace the air filter..any thing else will need shop work good luck

Maybe you need to raise the blade. If your grass is too tall, it could be causing the mower to die. I know we have had that problem lately because of all the rain. By the time it is a dry day to mow, the grass is so tall it jams the mower. Good luck!

Either it is debris in the gas tank or if it is happening when you push the mower on to a load (uncut grass) it could be part called the "govenor" or the "govenor spring."

If it sputters before it dies it could be water in the gas tank. Clean out the carbuerator & put in fresh gas. Also, tune it up every spring. New plug, filter, change the oil etc...

you need to replace the cutting blades or have them sharpen, cuts so much smother and not chokeing out and ripping the grass .also try cleaning the carb air screen//
