I allowed my neighbor to rip up part of my lawn to do some construction, they agreed to fix everything back to the way it was. They said they would put sod down, now they said the landscaping guy said it is too dry to lay down sod. Is this possible? if it is too dry for sod isn't it too dry for seed? seed allows for a higher risk of weeds doesn't it? I think they are trying to be cheaper now and I am not happy, please help.

Whenever I transplant regular plants, I try to keep soil around the roots as I'm doing it. Is this necessary with cacti?

Over the years some of the logs have developed horizontal cracks up to 3/8 inch in width. The cracks have been treated with a caulking but the appearance is unaccptable. We are looking for a material that can we applied with little effort and the finished surface will be flush with the existing log surface. We have been thinking of using a grout normally used for ceramic tiles and coloured with the same stain used on the logs.

Your opinions and experiences would be appreciated.

I have an Intex pop-up pool. Most of the manuals that came with it say to backwash the pool filter, but none of them say how to.

I live in a shared house. In the bathtub over the plug hole is a detachable piece of metal which fits in the hole and has small round holes in. I just don't understand it's purpose. It seems to just collect hair from everyone who uses the tub/shower meaning that somebody has the unpleasant job of picking out all the hair from it . Other than that, it serves no purpose. Surely things like hair would be better off just going straight down the hole into the drain, as they would if this cover was not there. The only possible useful thing they would do is to prevent items being lost down the plughole, but I believe that most people remove items like jewellery before taking a shower and i cant think of anythign one would normally take into a shower that is small enough to go down the hole.

I want to move my dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer and fridge outside into a tent type conservatory. They will be kept in a covered area, always protected from the elements - but they will be continuously exposed to outdoor temperatures in the UK climate. Is this a good idea or could the weather damage them?

My toilet wont flush on the first try but on the 2nd try it works out just fine. First try it starts to go, but then just fills up a little more with water. Then on the 2nd attempt it goes right down without issue. This is regardless of if there is or isnt any deposits in the toilet bowl hehe. ;) Any ideas?

We have a fire place with bats and birds living in the chimney. I was wondering if we could smoke them out but would it kill them in the chimney and we would smell their rotting bodies? Or would they leave before it killed them? Maybe a cleaner with a smell they dont like? We need them out to put a net on the top to prevent this from happening again. Any and all suggestions appreciated. Thank You.

Has anyone used this type of grass seed. It is advertised widely as a quick and easy reseeding solution. I have a very mossy lawn that needs to be raked out and reseeded. Would this type of seed be suitable? I am in S/E UK

I am replacing the current carpet in the bed rooms. The new carpet thtat I am getting is stainmaster@ Kamaro, pulsh carpet, 46 oz face weight, 4.5 twist, solid color. The cost is $16.2 per sq ft and $1.8 per sq yard. This is Home Depot's special price. Is this a good price?

For padding, Home Depot has two types of foam padding, one is $5.16 per sq ft, thickness is 1/2". The other one is $3.96 sq ft, the thickness is 7/16. What is your advice on which kind of padding to buy?

About two months ago I bought a tiny melon plant (sorry but I don't know what kind of melon plant it is). It has grown big, and it's probably about 4 feet now. The problem is that the melons only grow a tiny bit and then they turn yellow and fall off. What am I doing wrong? It seems to be doing just fine. I keep it in a green house, and I water it daily. I have cut back on the water, and it seems to do even better after that. But still the melons just fall off.
