We have a fire place with bats and birds living in the chimney. I was wondering if we could smoke them out but would it kill them in the chimney and we would smell their rotting bodies? Or would they leave before it killed them? Maybe a cleaner with a smell they dont like? We need them out to put a net on the top to prevent this from happening again. Any and all suggestions appreciated. Thank You.

Build a small but very smokey fire. When the pests have gone, get the chimney cleaned and put a cinder trap on top to keep out other animal life.

Bats love to hang out in chimeys and attics. And they have a high pitch chirp. If you're unsure, look up bat noises on you tube or something so you can identify the sound :) You might have a bat hanging around. A few years ago, we had a bat fly through our chimney into our living room. Creeepy
