I live in a shared house. In the bathtub over the plug hole is a detachable piece of metal which fits in the hole and has small round holes in. I just don't understand it's purpose. It seems to just collect hair from everyone who uses the tub/shower meaning that somebody has the unpleasant job of picking out all the hair from it . Other than that, it serves no purpose. Surely things like hair would be better off just going straight down the hole into the drain, as they would if this cover was not there. The only possible useful thing they would do is to prevent items being lost down the plughole, but I believe that most people remove items like jewellery before taking a shower and i cant think of anythign one would normally take into a shower that is small enough to go down the hole.

That IS the point... to catch all the hair...
Hair clogs drains.

It would be nice if the others would gather their own hair that drained there, to keep you from having to be disgusted.

You are asking a question that brings a number of specific solutions that individuals do not like to hear. The situation with Iran is that it's the only nation that the Shiite Muslims are the majority and therefore the have security there. The Shiites are the minority of the Muslim world as they suppose within the nephew of Muhammad as their spiritual chief. As a consequence they also go against the rest of the Muslim world in teachings. They are also Persians and now not Arabic. The essential useful intent that you would be able to furnish them is the truth that they do shield the Shiite Muslim right to observe. The first-class analogy of the Shiite VS Sunni Muslims is comparing the Catholics Vs Protestants in ireland. This will likely be an reply so one can be very long time coming to answer.

You are correct about the reason for the cover. It takes less time to remove those hairs from the cover than it does to wait for the plumber to unclog the drainlines. Cheaper too.

try removing it and wait to see how long it will be before you need Drano or a plumber to clear the accumulated debris in the trap pipe
