I have re lit the pilot about ten times over the past year. Now it will not light at all. What is the problem and then what would the fix be and how much? The water heater is only two years old so I am not looking to replace it right now.

My husband needs to cut a notch at an angle out of two hand rails to fit around the corner of the posts on the porch. The posts are turned and the rail will meet the posts at the corners. So he has to get the hand rail which is coming up to the post at an angle to fit around that 90 degree corner snugly.
Any suggestions?

I moved into a rental about 5 months ago in southern california. The lawn was nice in green back February but has slowly died as the weather got warmer. Once I realized that the sprinklers were not working properly I began to water the lawn when I got home from work. The lawn progressively started to die quicker. After research, I realized that watering at that time of the day may have helped kill it. I went to home depot and bought some scotts turf builder and some more seed. I laid it down and followed the instruction but nothing really happened.

Now the grass is pretty much dead every where except a few spots. I water it in the morning or noon time only. It's very dry this summer and I have progressively been watering with more and more water with no success. I read that I may need to have it aerated and re-seeded. Is this true? Can I do it myself? If not, what is the price to have someone do this?

The ground is very firm and fyi no plants are dying etc.

This year is my first real garden. Last year I planted in pots in my driveway. This year I tore up the best part of my lawn and planted a garden there. Greenest thickest grass was there before.

I put on a thin layer of manure. (1 inch overall) and rototilled deep.

The soil is dark colored and looks pretty rich.

My squash plants are HUGE, but no flowers and no fruit. Last year in pots, I had squash on plants only 1/4th the size. Maybe it is too early? I only planted them the first week of June.

Thanks

My question is before calling a professional how can I possibly troubleshoot the problem. I notice that when I do turn my thermostat on inside that the fan on the outside unit does not kick on which is why I'm sure that I'm getting the luke warm air inside.

A primer was not used before applying latex interior paint on chalky walls and now the paint can be peeled off like a removable sticker in some areas but not in others and resorting to scraping off with a razor scraper. Any suggestions on how to deal with the problem areas where the paint doesn't come off so easily? (And yes, primer will be used before repainting.)

I'm new to gardening, but I have a about 12 flower beds with a couple here and there flower pots and other things. I really like gardening/growing flowers and plants, I have a few questions: Oh, and I live in zone 5, Ontario Canada.
1: After my potted fuschia's flowers fall off, there is this green stub, that turns into a burgandy berry type thing, can I plant it
somewhere else, and will it grow? And how?
2: I planted some Fireweed wildflowers in the bush. How much will they spread and when? They are invasive.
3: I bought some seed packets of Stocks, Larkspur, and Snapdragon, but they are all perannuals. When should I grow them next year? They are annual right? Thats what it says on the packet. And someone told me they wouldn't bloom at all.
4: I bought bulbs of Gladiolis, Lillies, and about 4 other flowers all coming up in mid to late summer. When should I plant them next spring.
5: What is are some good wildflower seeds I can buy, and what flowers are in it?
Thanks so much!

I want to paint my kids rooms in different color. Right now their rooms have white flat paint. What do I need to do to prepare walls for re-painting them ? Do I have to use primer? Do I need to sand them? Or just paint?
In kids bathroom, which I'm planning to paint too, paint is glossy. I have no idea if it's oil or latex. I want paint to be glossy in the bathroom, I just want to change color. What do I do to achieve good result?

Maybe I'm being a little obsessive-compulsive, but I hate knowing that, though they may look neat enough in the linen closet, they're really just haphazardly folded and only look neat because the flat sheets and pillowcases on top of them are flattening them down.
