I am trying to think of something unique for my nephew. His mother told me that he's into Pokemon, but everyone else is getting Pokemon toys so I want to give him something different. He would probably like most things that boys his age are into, but again, I am looking for something a little bit different so he has some variety in his toys!!

I was thinking of maybe a craft set of some kind, he likes making things..
I also was thinking of a book that he could fill in about himself.. Does something like that even exist?

Any comments on those two ideas plus your own ideas are very much appreciated!!!

I heard that it isn't good for hummingbirds to be just fed a 4:1 water sugar food. I heard that it is hard for them to digest all that sugar and that they should be getting other nutrients, too. I don't want to buy a food mix but would like a recipe for a better hummingbird food if that is what is best for them.
I have tried to search this out and keep getting the same recipes over and over of a ratio of 4:1, water to sugar.
Does anybody really know what is best for them?

I am running for fair queen in my county and candidates are required to be on a float that goes along the lines of the theme "treasuring the past, shaping the future." If you have any ideas (preferrably low budget) please let me know! Thanks!

The types of rubber backed rugs/mats that you might find in your bathroom (or we have one in front of our sink). Can I just stick them in the washing maching or are they too heavy and might break it?

I have a new lawn. We planted grass seed and put straw over the top of it. It has been down for nearly two months. Will I need to rake it, or will it all eventually decompose within the next year or so? Its a big yard and will take a long time to rake. Any experience on this?

I have several types of daylilies. I want to keep their original colors true. I've heard that if they touch each other, then they could cross pollinate and aquire a new color. Is this true or an old wives tale?

it keeps leaking really badly. Whoever built did a terrible job. My husband is up there right now tearing the old rolled roofing off. We can't afford to hire someone so we need to do it ourselves.

What should we do first? it's 8.5 x 25 feet.

There isn't even even tar paper over the boards and the boards are only 1/2 and inch thick. Is that too thin?

I know we need the tar paper at least and new flashing, then the rolls. anything else?

There is also a large gap between the trailer and the addtion (they just stuffed styrofoam in between).

Thanks for any help!

I live alone and am really trying to make radical cuts to my budget. I have been turning my water heater off when not in use and only on when I take a shower and that isn't every day, is this saving money or costing money to heat the water ?

The bathmats we have at home, the 2'x3' furry kind, just aren't cutting it. After we step out of the shower and onto the mats, the mats stay wet for hours, if not days. What are some better alternatives? or perhaps not all bathmats are created equal?
