Whatever you do, don't try to drown them out. It'll just ruin your lawn. I hear fox urine works but I've never tried it. I moved from that place before I got a chance.

Are you sure they are gophers, or are they moles? Either way, the only way to get rid of both of them permanently is to trap and kill them. The traps that are designed specifically for trapping gophers are the ones to use if you are sure you have gophers. It will be necessary to set the traps according to the instructions (yes, you need to read them!). Other methods of eradication will have only temporary results, if that.

I recommend you fill the holes with dog poop. We did and it worked.
