my washing machine wont spin and i have no idea how to check anything....please help!!!

have you tried running it without a load? Mine will stop a spin cycle if the load is too far out of ballance.

May sound simple but make sure the lid is shut. There is a switch (there will be a peg on bottom side of lid that lines up with a recessed switch when closed)
Other than that in all likelihood, its the stepping relay (its a timer) with lid closed try turning the selector knob very slowly an d see if it starts doing any of the other functions, (fill, drain, spin) If it does, its the timer

If this is something that happened all at once then you may have a broken belt, bad pump (to get water out), or transmission ( yes some have trnsmissions). If it has gotten worse over time then the drive belt has probably worn out . Whichever the case you need to call your local handy man, very few owner repair parts without some training.
