I used baking soda/ 1 lb. box of iodized salt... Mixed that together and let it sit on the carpet overnight... The baking soda/salt smoothered the fleas and the acidity of the bs/s made the larve and eggs dissolve.. At least that's what I was told.. However, it is very cheap a 12 lb bag of baking soda is under $5 and restaurant salt $2... I also put a fleas collar in my bagless vac. to kill the one's I vacuumed.. I did this as well as bombed my house and I haven't seen a little bugger again.. Besides, even if the bs/s doesn't work- it still freshens your carpet and picks up any loose dirt.... Good luck..

If you go to any pet store, you can buy a lawn spray made to kill fleas. Just follow the directions on the bottle and it should take care of it. Keep in mind you may have to keep your pet off your lawn for up to 12 hours, so make sure you pay attention to that. The Borax laundry detergent can work and is inexpensive. There is a product made for indoor flea treatment that works the same way the laundry powder does but I don't recall the name of it. Hope that helps some.

As for inside, I used to buy 20 Mule Team Borax laundry soap, sprinkle it all around the floor, leave it on for about 24 hours, then vacuum it all up - throw away your vacuum cleaner bag (if it has one). This worked for me in Florida! Had an inside cat and once in a while I'd see an evidence of fleas - this treatment seemed to last for months and didn't bother the cat. Not sure about outside, but it's cheap enough, I'd try sprinkling it outside!

this may sound silly but do you have any animals? If you don't i know that putting boric acid around the edges of your house on the inside and outside will help keep then away. Inside of your house bomb it seriously I'm doing that tonight to mine it will kill them.
