Before moving into my "new" place, I would prefer to get rid of the disguesting odor of cigarette smoke. I'm planning to steam clean the carpets, but what else can be done to rid the place of this odor?

I just bought a new condo a couple of years ago and recently have found a couple of nail holes coming through my ceiling. This looks really tacky and I would love to fix them. Any ideas?

I was in the Allegheny National Forest June 28th and this flower was in full bloom. It's location was mostly sunny in rich soil. The plant was approx 36" tall. The leaves were on the "bottom half of the plant". A tall "spike" was filled with 2 to 3 inches long, 1-in diameter, tubular bell like flowers (trumpet like). The flowers were only on one half (the sunny side) of the spike. Flowers were not completely around the stalk. The flowers on the bottom of the spike were pink/purple and the flowers fadded to white towards the top of the spike. The very top of the spike had flowers that had not yet blossomed.

I've looked in my Petersons Field Guide and on the Web and can't find the name of this plant. Any suggestions?

Just got 4 brand new shirts. They all are 100% cotton with different colours and patterns. How do I wash them using a machine for the first time? What is the setting on the machine (water temp, speed, etc)? Can I wash them all together? Can I wash them with other non-brand new cloth? Do I have to turn them inside out?

How about drying them in a dryer? And, tricks on ironing them?

Had to ask to be sure I keep them in top shape for a long time. Thank you so much!

It started going wonky about a month ago. It took 3 or 4 firm pushes on the handle to get it to flush. Now it's given up entirely, no matter how many times you try.

Does anybody know how to fix it?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks.

The tank is full, but there is almost no water in the bowl. It flushes perfectly fine. This toilet is not used as much as the others in the house, but it is used. Is this a problem? Is it something I can fix easily?

My parents bought a new kitchen from Wickes, which have lots of cut price appliances. Now we have a choice between an Electrolux ESL6115 which is priced at 250.GBP new and boxed (discount 50% off) and Zanussi ZDI6054QX Stainless Steel (very stylish) which is ex display and also half price at 300 GBP. I don't know which one to go for, which do you think I should buy?

I live in Cornwall. The little trees are all now 3 years old. They are in pots at present. They are between 2 ft and 3.5/4 ft. They came from apples of the Pink Lady variety.
I know they will probably not grow Pink Lady apples but would like to see them grow stronger/better and if possible produce some apples whatever variety/taste.
To do this I need more information on:-
where do thy originate from
what diseases/pests to watch out for
what fertilisers to feed them with
what soil type they prefer
size of plot required if they can't stay in pots
and
anything else that would help me to nurture my little (hopefully soon to be large) apple trees.
I hope somebody can give me some advice as I am really serious regarding this.

I kept sliding today when I got up on the roof to trim branches, and I figured there has to be an easier way to stay on the roof. It was a little scary up there as my feet kept sliding. Any ideas?

It is a creeping weed that looks like a jade with fairly thick stems. The stems are kinda flesh colored/pinkish. It covers ground really fast and is the bane of my garden.
