I'm building a new 16'x20' workshop. The framing is almost complete and I'm going to install 4 x 8 x 7/16 Oriented Strand Board over the studs. Do I install it vertically(8ft up and down) or horizontally like sheetrock(8ft left to right) with the joints staggered? Also do I need to allow any spacing between the sheets for heat expansion or do I just butt the seams tightly? And what type of vapor barrier should install over the OSB if I am putting vinyl siding over it. Thank you.

We have ants in the kitchen and bathroom. I am constantly cleaning these areas hoping it will help, but it doesn't. We live out in the country. I have used ant traps and sprayed ant spray over all cracks, doors, windows, but nothing seems to work. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. They are just normal black ants.

I have planted grass seeds with new composted soil and it is coming up in places but not others. I water everyday. I have fertilized. I talk nice to it. I am at my wits end. I have considered writing to Tommy Chong (Cheech and Chong fame)as I hear he knows a bit about grass. (kidding) Any ideas? Thanks for the help!!!

I have been given a quote of about £1500 for the labour to tile my bathroom floor, walls and kitchen floor.
I have never tiled before but am thinking about it as this seems a lot of money for a relatively unskilled job.
Thanks

I bought some beautiful daisies at the store & transplanted into the ground out front w/Miracle-Gro potting soil, they seemed to be doing great, getting sun & water daily but in the last week or two I noticed that the beautiful green leaves all around the bottom are FULL OF HOLES,like bugs are eating away at them.My son siad it was caterpillar(he said he learned this in school, is this true?)Why are caterpillars eating my daisy leaves & how can I keep them or whatever other bugs or insects are doing this away from my flowers?I have other flowers planted in this area as well-marigolds, petunias, sunflowers, convolvulus and have not noticed holes in the leaves but the daisy leaves are FULL of holes,I mean the holiest looking leaves I have ever seen,do I pull these leaves off? Also, when a daisy flower dies do I pull it off & will a new one grow(like with marigolds & petunias)or are they just a one time thing? Please help, this is my first year planting daisies & I love them & want them 2 last

Some of our windows don't open all the way, others the sash is broken so they must be propped open. It was not a consideration when we purchased to have perfect windows, so wondering if it improves the resale value enough to warrant replacing them??? Looks like about $7,000.

I am looking to replace 4 boxwood shrubs that are in the back of my flower bed. The area is part shade and I need the plant to be taller than the plants that are towards the front of my flower bed. So...I thought 3 feet would be good. The area isn't very big so whatever I plant cannot be too bushy. Any suggestions?

I told a realator friend of mine and she said that she has the same problem at her house. She said one of the builders in her developement carried her to a house at her developement that was still being built and demonstrated the same problem with no visable sign of leaking. He said that it was due to pipes being clean, and probly needed insulation. Does this sound plausable?

I recently started 2 gardens, one in my backyard(tomatoes, broccoli rabe, lettuce) and one around a tree in front of house with flowers(marigolds, coleus, petunias, daisies). Before starting each garden I dug up & weeded the ENTIRE erea until nothing was left but dirt, which I then raked up and added miracle-gro soil to the top (went through 3 HUGE BAGS),then I transplanted my flowers & vegetables.A few days ago I noticed a small plant growing near the tomatoes which reminded me of a pic of a marijuana leaf I had said in high school but it was green & red, three leaves, pointy jagged edges, kinda cool looking so I watered it & it is getting bigger, then I noticed the same small plant now growing in my flower garden in fron of house. IS this poison ivy or could it be some wildflower? It looks pretty cool, I thought maybe it sprouted from seeds I had planted last year but now I'm wondering should I pull them up,does it sound like poison?Dark maroon & green-3 leaves, points on top-jagged edges

I just planted several tomatoe plants and now our weather report says the temps will get down to 35 tonight. It seldom gets that temp. this time of year, but a cold front decided different this year. Will my tomatoes be OK or should I cover them? If so, what would you recommend?

i got a problem and need help - i live in a 1970s house that uses the old red/black wiring. i have a two way lighting system between the hall and landing. i have added a new ceiling light but now having trouble with the two way lighting. what happens now is i can switch on/off the landing light from d/stairs works fine but if i leave the switch on and then go upstairs to switch the light off it stays on. if i switched the light d/stairs off from the d/stairs switch and then go upstairs i can switch the landing light on and off.

can anyone help - is there a website out there that explains 2 way lighting circuitry or can anyone post a solution to my problem

My uncle bought a bar and I've been helping to fix up a lot of the electric, the other night we were in the kitchen (I work as a cook there too) and the lights, stoves, and everything else electrical except the stereo started turning on and off. It was almost like someone was flipping a master switch that controlled everything, I thought I could hear a clicking form a switch to, though that may have been the stove or somethingturning on and off. It wasn't just the kitchen thuogh, it was at the bar and dining room too. anyone have any ideas it does this? He says it does it every now and then.
