Or, Do I have to go purchase 9/64 size bit? I have 3/32, 1/8, 5/32, and 3/16. Will one of these work without messing anything up? Please help.

It is always best to use what the directions call for. If the hole drilled is to fit bolts or such pieces, then they will not fit if you drill another size hole. You will need to purchase a 9/64 size bit.

If you plan on frequenting house projects such as that, it may be wiser to purchase a set, available at most hardware stores. Best of luck to you.

If you go larger you run the risk of the screw (or whatever) being too loose not holding. If you go smaller, you run the risk of the dowel or anchor (or whatever) not going into the hole. It's best to get the right sized bit and use that.

if you only need a "pilot hole" to screw into, use a bit 1/8 the size of the anchor screw. I've used small nails to make pilot holes. The key is not to make the hole too large.

Good Lord, folks - you are all being wishy-washy over 1/64th of an inch! Use your 1/8" bit!
