We have ants in the kitchen and bathroom. I am constantly cleaning these areas hoping it will help, but it doesn't. We live out in the country. I have used ant traps and sprayed ant spray over all cracks, doors, windows, but nothing seems to work. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. They are just normal black ants.

there is a way but it smells. Spray vinegar (normal) where the ants come in and on ant hills it dosent kill them all but ants HATE vinegar they can stand the smell and it burns them. So they will stop coming in your house!

If you do use ant traps and you have pets. Dont put them anywhere where pets can get them. Dogs seem to like them. My dog tried to get one once.
Be careful with certain sprays. Some are really bad for birds and other pets.
Yea I have ant problems. Just keep food away. Make sure everything is clean and just keep wiping up the ones that come.
Try to find where they start at and then spray there.
Goodluck!

We had ants around the baseboard of our dining room and near the front door, so we first bought ant traps, but they did (or seemed like they did) nothing. So I bought Spectracide Bug Stop spray and sprayed on the ants, and they were dead immediately! just had to clean up the dead ants, keep the spray handy, and pray the bait would kill the colony. Also, we kept the ant baits in case they really did work. Significant decrease in ants, got to say the spray really did the job to get rid of them fast.

Here's a good article online:

You have many options.

The first, to prevent new ants you have 2:

1. transplant any hedges close to the house to at least 2 feet from the house.

2. Get ahold of powdered Boric Acid (DO NOT DO THIS IF YOU HAVE ANY PETS as this will kill them) and place a line of it on the floor at every door and window of your home.

To get rid of old ants you'll have to use an ant bomb or an exterminator. I suggest the bomb first, it's cheaper, just make sure the house is sealed, and the pets and family will be gone all day. Then be sure to open all the windows when you get home to ventilate.

Hope that helps.

Basically clean everything and don't leave food out. You have to eliminate the things the ants come in for.

To kill the ones already there Raid helps. Keep up with ant traps.

If this doesn't work, you might have to call an exterminator. Or you can try getting a pet anteater.

buy a bottle of Torro. Its a clear liquid that u put a drop on a piece of the box, lay where the ants are. The first coupl days u may have to use a couple more drops. u will think u r being invaded. They will completely cover the box and may seem to be getting worse. They eat the poison, take it back to their colomy and it kills them all. Can be purchased a WalMart or any home improvement store. Good luck

I have this same problem all summer long...spraying with raid, windex, vinegar did nothing, i finally bought ant "bait", and put it down in the areas where i would see ants, they would eat the bait, take it back to the colony and i wouldnt see them again...spraying will do nothing, they will just keep coming out. and plugging up the holes where they came from didnt' do much sometimes either, they just found another hole to come out of...

The one thing we have found that works the best,is safe around animals and pets is called "greenlight" You can find this at Walmart. We always use this when the lil pests show up and poof ! They are gone in no time flat ! Good luck ! Oh and follow the lil critters back to the anthill and spread some of this powder there too !

Put corn mill around your house and in your window seals, the ants take it back to the nest and try to eat it but they can not digest it and it kills them it may take a couple of days to a week.
