Stringy things like corn husks, celery stalks, tea bag strings have a tenancy to "windup" around the beaters in the disposal and can stop them from working.

Celery, beans, bones, a plumber told me beans were very bad for the drain pipes.Celery will clog up the pipes in heart beat!!!!!! Happened to me on a Thanksgiving Day!!!!!!

Things I've read say no bones, other than small chicken bones and definitely no celery. The strings gunk it up. No corn cobs. No grease.

well, yeah those are good, too. don't put in unpopped popcorn kernels, celery, nut shells, or grease. ice cubes are good to sharpen the blades.
