I'm currently installing a shower door which is an entrance (and 4th side) to a 3-walled (with tiles) shower. The problem is I have a gap of about 1 inch (2.6cms) to fill in total between the tiles and the side of the door. Wood would be easiest but is no good as it would get wet. I could put another layer of tiles along each side where the wall would touch the door which would almost exactly fill the gap but not sure it's the best idea. Can't imagine I'm the first person to face this problem though so any help from someone who has successfully sorted this rather than guesses would be great. Thanks.

Planted a couple of herb gardens....they're really doing well...but, with a few exceptions, I don't really know what to do with them. Any suggestions/tips would be appreciated.
Thank you

For some reason the past two years during the spring and summer months of course, our yard is just infested with gnats. We can't go out to enjoy the weather, that's how bad they are. Is there anything we can put on the grass to control them?

Whats wrong with my hot water tap if the water is just trickling out?
It used to be ok but has gradually got worse and worse.

I am not sure who to call about my water pressure. The pressure in my home is not terrible but not good. I bought a pressure gauge and measured the pressure at the main source in my house. It measures 38lbs. Is this low?

I had two new Kohler toilets installed in March. The guest toilet starting making "false flushing" sounds about 2-3 weeks ago. It was infrequent but is now seems to be happening more often. The toilet in my master bedroom started doing the same thing about a week ago. The two toilets are not far apart & both are on the first floor...not sure if that has anything to do with it.

I've read about the phantom flushing but I can't tell if it's the same thing. what is happening with my toilets is not lasting even 15 seconds...maybe a couple seconds at best. I can only liken it to the sound that happens at the end of a full flush (sounds like the water is on...think of filling a tub while you're on the other side of the wall) followed by the "ka-clunk" sound that happens at the very end of normal flush.

2007 has been an expensive home improvement/replacement nightmare. I can't afford much more!!

This morning my neighbor put about a hundred sheets of newspaper down on a patch of dirt next to their driveway, each held down by a large rock. A couple of hours later, a dump truck came and left a massive pile of dirt on top of the newspapers and rocks. Is there any reason for doing this?!?? it seems so bizzare to me. I would ask them but they are Russian and there is a little bit of a language barrier.

I have one of those kiddie swimming pools in my backyard, and it's pretty big. I'd like to know how to keep it clean and free of algae. Can you buy chemicals for them, the way you can for a regular pool? What about a filter or a pump of some sort? Any suggestions? I don't want to have to dump it out and clean it every week or two. That seems like a waste of water.

The seeds are for a flower called a Bachelor's Button. I followed the directions on the back of the seed pack, as far as depth, water and warmth..... and it said that they would germinate in 8-14 days. it's been over 21 days and there is still no signs of green.

Should I wait even longer? I'm tempted to dig up the seeds to see if they are growing roots or just dried out or rotting....

My Marigolds are coming up fine. I could just plant more of them, but I don't really want all the same things in my window box.

Have you ever used one of the vaccum cleaners that is pretty much like a robot? If you have what did you think about it? Does it do a good job is it worth the money? Does it work on carpet floors or only hard wood? Let me know what you think

How can you tell when you look at a home that is for sale and you like it, but think you can change the rooms a bit by moving a couple of wall, how can one that is not a contractor tell. Getting a contractor in takes time, and extra money just to tell the basics.

Saw some lovely tiles for sunroom today. One lot is Porcelain and the other Marble. Which is most hard wearing? I would have to wait 6-8 weeks for delivery of the marble, would it be worth waiting for or would the sunroom be just as nice with the porcelain. Both tiles look very similar to each other so quality would probably sway my judgement.

Thanks in advance for any advice.
