Whats wrong with my hot water tap if the water is just trickling out?
It used to be ok but has gradually got worse and worse.
All the other hot taps in the house are fine, its just the bath tap thats rubbish.

Is this a sink faucet, or a tub faucet? If it is a sink faucet, and the cold water works fine, then the hot stem or cartridge is the problem. Turn the valve off under the cabinet, and disassemble the faucet. remove the stem/cartridge and check for signs of wear. Replace it with a new one, and reassemble the faucet, turn on the water, and check for leaks. If it is a tub, you have to turn the main water valve to the house off first. good luck!

There are a number of reasons this might happen.
(1) A build up of lime on the pipes.
(2) Faulty Tap
(3) Air in the pipe
Turn off the water to the bath then unscrew the tap and check the washer or a build up of lime.
If these are ok try putting a hose from the cold tap to the hot tap and with the hot tap opened turn on the cold tap slowly this will drive the hot back up to the cylinder and free and air lock. I all that fails you may need a new copper cylinder.
Check your cold tank in the attic to see if there is lime deposits in the tank.

It is likely you have buildup in the line to that tap. As hot water cools it can deposit calcium in the pipes but it usually takes a long time. I will bet this tap is the furthest from your water heater and is uninsulated.

I would check the aerator at the end of the spout. Usually they just unscrew from the end of the spout. Sometimes over time they become clogged with dirt and mineral deposits. You can wash them out at another faucet. To remove the mineral buildup you can soak it in white vinegar. Just be careful when you take it apart. They can be several pieces that come out when you unscrew it.

Good luck :)

If your bath uses a single handle to control your water then your mixing valve is messed up and needs to be replaced
