I am not sure who to call about my water pressure. The pressure in my home is not terrible but not good. I bought a pressure gauge and measured the pressure at the main source in my house. It measures 38lbs. Is this low?

Yes it is...you need to make sure of one thing first. Is it a plumbing problem or a water company problem. The first thing I would do is call the water company to see if they are getting good pressure to your house. If that's ok then, you need to look for a leak in your pipes anywhere (under the sink, etc) . Also, if you have galvanized steel pipes and they are pretty old and not really in good shape...you should replace them with PVC pipe (known for really good pressure).

"Good" water pressure is between 40 and 80 pounds. This can be caused by the municipal water service or clogged/deteriorating pipes. Request a pressure check at the main from your water provider.

step1; look at smaller size water pipe coming into house and see if front outside faucet pipe is connected before pressure reducing valve, or check front faucet pressure. If you can locate pressure reducing valve, turn screw or nut 3 revolutions inward w/psi gauge attached to rear faucet, hope that helps
